I scored a trio of Chevy trucks even trade for a 'vette suspension. (bright modern suspension idea for Model A project gone sour).

Well my wife's brother gave me a 1967 GMC full size big window pic up with a straight 6 in it (good for a parts chaser) and a 1950 Chevy pic up project (complete just needs assembly, wiring and glass)has original rolling chasis, along with a 1975 silverado that has a SBC 327 with camel hump heads. the 75 runs but the truck is a rust bucket.

My questions are:

1. On the '67 would the inline six be a 250 cid or a 292 cid?

2. Does anyone know of a website that might list #s? (I have the vin # CS1570DPC2962A but inliners.org didn't help)

3.Regarding the '75 What parts should i salvage for the '50 besides the Motor, Tranny, and Booster-master cylinder?

***thought about transfering the suspension from '75 to the '50 but, mostly everyone advised me that it would be too wide and that I would end up having to use deep or offset wheels.

4. Would It be possible to transfer the front spindles/brakes for better stopping power?

5. What about power steering any transferable parts?

6. How rough is the ride on a '50 straight axle anyway?

***anyone out here cruising on a chevy truck sraight axle right now? advice/recommendations??

7. Do I have to box the frame?

Anyone have pics of '47 through '53 Chevy trucks that can serve as ideas or insoiration?? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks in advance,
TD

There is a power steering conversion kit available that would use the '75 steering box on the '50. Keep the steering box, or take it off and ship it to me...

I've seen the front crossmember narrowed, the fenders widened, and offset wheels used to make that ifs work on the older truck. It can be done, but may not be the right answer for you.

Hey So What,

How did Longhair set the truck on the frame? Did he weld the front clip or did he do a complete body swap over?

We used the whole S-10 frame. Weuse long bed S-10s. Hardest part is the front wich is the same if you do a clip

So What,

Why is the front the hardest part? Do you have to move the suspension front or back?
Is there any narrowing or widening involved?
Got any pics or related articles?
