Has anyone seen the commercial for the turbo PT cruiser? Looks alot like Ryans work on the HAMB calender web site! They have animated pinstriping and flames...seems fishy to me!?!??

I have been retired from Chrysler almost 7 years and have not set a foot back in the plant since I left.So dont blame me.

I dont think so- or they would either put the new hemi in a PT cruiser or if left as is they would halt production..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I think the Anti-Chrysler reads the HAMB - to maintain a balance between good and evil, Chrysler reads the RRT.

Vintage pinstriping and retro is the latest yuppie craze.

I`m serious about the simularities, look at the HAMB calender site then watch the commercial. The pinstriping loads on the TV screen just like it loads on my puter screen in Ryans site. It`s hard to believe two guys had the same idea! FWIW I saw it on the HAMB site first.
Hell, maybe Ryan did both...He`s the man you know!

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw it. If I remember correctly, it's a good LOOKING comercial with a completely WRONG soundtrack...yuppies always screwing things up. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

the commercial caught my attention, but what kinda bugged me about it, was the way the pinstriping appeared on the screen, as it would if you applied it using a vinyl transfer, instead it should have quickly traced the actual brush strokes as a pinstriper would have made them.

Get used to it, theres more to come. My lady just showed me the psychobilly article in the newest issue of...are you ready for this...Vogue! I forsee the yuppies moving from Harleys to sleds. God, I hope I'm wrong.

Caddychris,If your right, think about what happened to the prices of Harleys when they became the "in" trend. At that time crap became priced and sold as if they were built from gold.

I saw the ad on television a couple of weeks back and was wondering if the boss did the ad also. My first thought was ask here and the striping was kinda cool. But I was afraid of bringing up the PT word.

I saw the commercial and thought the same thing.
Perhaps there will be a Von Dutch special edition PT.

That reminds me...My buddy has a custom shop and this Professor at the U of I brought him his PT Cruiser to customize. It was one of those ugly "foolsgoldlimitededition" models. He had him put all kinds of Egyption Hieroglyphics on it. Pretty wierd. I guess the guy was a professor of Egyptology....in Illinois. He probably belongs to the local PT Cruiser Club (I'm not kidding here) which singleghandedly ruins every car event around here.

Do you have any idea how difficult that would be to do?

ray

it would not be difficult at all.

Ryan

IT would be real easy actually...

plan9

would be pretty easy to make photoreal brush strokes in a 3D software package. or a 2D effect can be made with garbage mattes.. i think its safe to say the person who did it was either under a time crunch, or didnt know squat about pinstriping

I haven't seen the commercial (I watch about zero TV, and STILL don't have time to get anything done), but I just saw you replying, Ryan...your answers have me curious...you port some of your work over to the 'vast wasteland'?

Chrysler commercial?
Chrysler has commercials?
Oh yea, It's the one I don't hafta hit the mute button on before Celine Dion starts howling in pain...
That alone makes it an OK commercial, no Celine, voice like an electrocuted cat,Dion.

I like the girl enjoying her ride on the mechanical bull way too much while sucking ketchup off her thumb in a crotch-tingley seductive way...
