On my f-1 bed, I just have a 4 sided box (no floor). I understand how the wood is the floor, but aren't there runners or something that go under the wood, and support the bed on the frame? I've seen runners listed in catalogs for newer trucks but not the 48-52. Anybody know? Anybody have pics? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

yep... there are a set of runners that go width wise to the bed.
this pic is without the bedsides...but you can see the crossmembers youre looking for...

i got a whole bed kit from a show, and the runners were included...

but you should be able to find them no sweat from the f-100 dealers.

It isn't shown in the picture, but there is an angle iron frame those crossmembers are welded to. The bedsides are riveted to those angles as well.

You can get the crossmembers from Sacto Vintage Ford, Bob Drake, Mack's (Moberly, MO)
