Holley guys...What is this thing?

I've always wondered what this little plastic piece is that goes in the float bowl on the metering block, but I've never thought to ask. My buddy just changed his jets and took this thing out, I always assumed that it was important or it wouldn't be there. I figured it blocked fuel from entering somewhere.
Does anyone know?

It helps prevent gas from coming out the vent tube.

Correct Rocket 88, it is a vent tube baffle to prevent a sag during wide open throttle operation. He should be ok without it with a tall air filter element. If he is running a low profile air cleaner and developes a sag while accelerating full throttle, he may wish to put it back in.

Cool, I've actually shot fuel out of the vent hole when the float level was off. Thanks for the info.
