Well, I actually sold the Buick last Saturday at the Boerne Rod Run. i finished attaching the remaining trim at 3am Saturday and she was sold by Noon. I didnt expect her to go that quick, kinda hoped I would get to spend some more time with her, she sure did get the attention. Oh well, i still have my "better half" and even though i built the Buick for her she didnt mind me selling her Buick to finance the Model A I'm doing.
38chevy454 and I picked up the rusted hunk of a buick in Houston a couple of years ago and I re-skinned the doors, made a new floor pan and painted it in my front yard with a $15 Harbor Freight gun. The 364 rumbled with the best of them with them dual Smitthy's on there and she was just flat out fun to build and drive, I'm gonna miss her........

Man, sorry to hear you had to let her go. That was one of my favorite cars on the HAMB. I've been waiting for a decent shot of those flames you shot forever too.
Love that thing,

I'm going to put some sort of red pearl accents on mine, any way I could get some hints as to how to get them not to look "pink" or faded?

4t6frd...I add the red pearl PASTE to my black paint, that way as you add layers it will become a richer red and you will be able to control the eveness. Plus with it mixed in the black paint they become truley ghosted until light hits them. I've shot the pearl in clear like they recommend but its too vibrant and you wont get as subtle an effect.

You painted it in your front yard....black no less??!! Holy crap, I am impressed. Looks better than some cars painted in a high tech paint booth. You're good man! If I bring my coupe all the way from Canada to Texas would you paint it in your front yard too??

If you guys saw what that car started out as, you would not believe it. It was quite a transformation from rusted non-running hulk to the beauty that is seen in the pictures. steve, post a picture of the "before" if you have it. Also show a shot of the interior, it was real nice tuck and roll as well. I'm sure glad that restorer guy in Houston sold it to such a nice young man to restore it! hahaha http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Buick is a stunner, Steve. My heart goes out to you; I know what it's like having to sell a much-loved car in which one has invested a great deal of time and energy and creative spirit.

Nice ride, I love the way those old Buicks, Pontiacs & Olds look. Good luck on the next project, judging by the Buick it will be an awesome car..

Enough of the car, post more pics of Dora Lynn.
Just messin with ya!
I remember when you drove it to the house right after you painted it (no seats), my jaw just about hit the driveway. That was by far the coolest custom in town. That paint was just plain trick. Can't wait to see the next one.
Hey, you wanna do the body work on my new roadster project? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He's not talking about my pile-o-junk (although I will be putting him to work on it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif), he's talking about his very own, freshly aquired, not yet picked up, pile-o-junk. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'll let him fill you in. All I can say is...he's got one heckuva set of eyes to see the "inner beauty" in this new project! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So sad...You should have called me. Ouch! I agree with dan I thought for sure the billet rod was leaving the garage. You'll finish that model A before I finish the T. That's the scary part about you.

I hear ya.
When I sold my 37, as we watched it drive away, the wife started crying her eyes out. With my usual tact I said "what the hell are you crying about? Your car will get finished now!"
She said, "I know, but I loved that car so much!"
Back at the motel that night, I broke open a bottle of the Captain to celebrate my pocket full of cash.
Then I didn't sleep all night.
I feel your pain man! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

that's gotta hurt. what a gorgeous car...
does this mean you're going to join the great name change of 2003 then? or will HAMB granddaddies be telling their grandkids in 50 years about the origins of the name lesabre59???
i'm sure your next ride will be JUST as sweet...

Slick Willie..Thanks for the compliment
Autocol..No, I will not be changing my HAMB name. i Joined with that name and I'm sticking to it, i think its easier for people to keep track of the members if they just keep one name.

I wouldnt call it junk. I would call it trash with potential to be junk. Picked it uo from Texas Deuce (darn nice guy). He told me it needed alot of work, sent me the pictures and goooood lord he was right. The entire right side is just about cratered. But hey, all I've got is time and generous friends that keep lining me up with the stuff I need to put junk on the road. The body will be a major undertaking, but Im not in too big of a hurry. Dont have room for another whole car right now. If it was done I couldn't afford to insure another one. This is gonna be sort of a stare at it for 6 months and determine the best way to tackle it jobby. Sure is a neat lookin body style and somebody put alot of work into it before the tree fell on it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Dont worry, I'll be getting your opinion on how to best knock it out.

Well, definetly a beautiful car but judging by your first photo you kept the right "woman".
Yeah, that's one of the best Buicks (of that body style) I've seen. I'm anxious to see how nice your A is gonna be!

lesabre59,
I think you get it, the car was unreal! I had a chance to see it befor you sold it at the show. But I will tell you from the other side. I had lots o cars and bikes but nothing compares to blasting around in an A. By far the top of the fun factor list.
Have fun with the new build, and the DRIVE!
Sandman.
