The mystery of the Mysterion...
Where did it go? Someone, somewhere knows; but they ain't talking!

So I thought it was time to do a redesign.
Longer, lower, leaner... but still two 406 Fords and that, 'work of genius'
bubble top. Roth created a masterpiece when he made the original.
I hope this one does it justice.

Very nice restyling job on the Mysterion GaryC! I dig it a lot!

Did this artwork for Firebird Raceway of Boise, Idaho. Tried to make it look like it was vintage '70's. Firebird had metal signs made to commemorate the early years of their Nightfire 500 drag-racing event. The 'weathering' was added by the signmakers; I think they did an awesome job. Size of the signs is 11.5" x 17.5"

Jason Hensel from Denver (RCCrawler here on the HAMB) took me quite by surprise earlier this week when he sent me these pics of his left arm: A tattoo after a piece I did for Daddy Katz Kustom Kulture.

The tattoo artist is Nik Pew, from Phantom 8 Tattoo in Denver, Colorado.
Lola is Jason's 2 year old daughter.

Great show so far. I love Fridays!

So I haven't drawn in at least 12 years probably, but these posts have gotten me interested again. Other than art class is school, I have zero experience. I got some books and pencils. I'm curious if someone could tell me what the pencil ratings acually mean? They are derwents, and rated B, F, HB, and H-9H. I've also got a nice set of Prismacolor colored pencils and some circle and ellipse templates. Anyone that wouldn't mind mentoring me and/or answering questions as I go drop me an IM, PLEASE.

A little Military Tribute.

How about we take a 1930 Model A 5 window and trim it's hind quarters and add a little bed work to it. Maybe it's just in my head but she looks stretched, long and lean.
What's under the hood ? I'll leave that to your imagination. But I'm thinking something flat.

I sketched this- 'The Missing Linc'- in Biro during my work break on Tuesday. I've put another 3 or 4 hours into it on the PHOTOSHOP brushes palette with a mouse. I haven't attempted colour yet.

Hey everybody, great show so far! I have got to thank Zombie this week for publishing my artwork in Traditional Rod&Kulture magazine No. 16.I got mine in the mail yesterday and it blowed me away how nice everything looked! My computer will not upload pics anymore (SHIT) , so I can't put anything on this week, but I am working on it. I got a lot of stuff backed up over here ready to go on, very frustrating!

A new piece... I was asked by Pinstriping and Kustom Graphics magazine (http://pandkg.com/) to do a 4 page photoshop tutorial on how I do some of my digital work. They wanted a sci-fi twist on it, but I hadda throw in a blown UFO and a Fink-esque bandit just for fun. Should be in the Jan. issue.

Truly AMAZING Start this week! The Radiators are so cool. What it the Base? Bondo smeared into the core & sanded smooth? Being a Pontiac and PURE Gasoline Fan, the FIREBIRD Raceway stuff hit home. Jeff, Good to talk to you & the Santa rivals Coca-Colas, Plans for a Christmas 6 Pack of Oil Cans? Closest Ive gotten to art this week is Delivering a box from Dick Blick to a door step. I see plenty of time after the holidays for art. Gonna have to bring it up a notch to feel worthy though. Have a good one guys!

I got on here early and this thing is already blowin up with killer work. Jeral, i hate you..j/k...That is some of the baddest shit I've seen in a while. Thanks for sharin. Hope to see more. Rob, she's lovely. This is a shirt design for the local Harley dealer for their winter warrior shirt. I also got my cards done just in time for mooneyes. If anyone knows Gruver and Crispy, they are the two dudes i know that go all summer without a shirt...and they both have early chevy vans. So they deserved to be on the back of my card hahaha. The last pic is of a travel case that Tidwell and I striped up for Stainboy, when we were at the Art Minion Gallery in Minneapolis.
I think Jeral had to dumb himself down to work at my level....Just a coupla bums pullin' lines. haha

Someone asked who started the radiator thing earlier... I have no idea... I saw an air condition unit next to a wall with graffiti on it, the graffiti continued onto the unit and when I saw it, I was like... BAM! I was like... Holy crap, hot rod art on radiators! So it wasn't even a car thing that gave me the idea. I'm sure someone else has / is doing it, I just do it my way and have been painting them for about 7 years. To be honest, I'd love to see some other folks
versions... that would be sick!

And this one, taken a few years ago at Oran Park raceway. 35mm 400asa film, it was pitch black and about 9pm when I took this, had to lean on the flat bed to keep the camera still. I lucked out with this and kinda like the effect.

Gary C. Just as point of interest… After Roth "up-dated" the Beatnick Bandit Thom Taylor redesigned the Mysterion and tried to interest Roth in building it… Roth always hated the Mysterion so he turned the project down. So Thom published the art in Street Rodder or Rod & Custom… this would have been the mid 1990's… Nice job on yours though!

Hey folks... this is my first post... I too am an art nerd...

wow, guys, some awesome work tonite!! heres a guitar I kinda striped, and a sketch I did for "Eve Hell and the Razors", a super rad canadian rockabilly band fronted by the best female voice in rockabilly, I think. it will be on black with a white outer line, and used for t-shirts, stickers, cds....

Thanks man!
As far as inking goes... I use quite a few different markers... no brushes.
I do use a few brush pens that I pick up when I'm in Japan but the ones I use most are Faber Castell PITT Pens and you can get these just about anywhere... art stores, hobby shops, arts and craft stores... about $2 each
SUPER black ink. The brush pen tips trash pretty easy so I buy them by the dozen. I hope that helps.

A lot of great stuff here, as usual!! To much to list! Anyhow, not been so productive. Want to make more of the same stuff as last time. I have a idea for a story...a lot of "shots"...like a cartoon...this is not done though!
