heres the deal! and sorry its OT but hey Ive been here awhile itll be ok.
I took the Green Bean out last night for a nice run around town. I passed by this bar thats next to my old shop. I never go there because its full of young kids and old drunks..but this time I figure what the hell Ill give it a chance. I know the owner and most the staff. I pull up to the deck and these kids give me the ol man thats badass spill. I say thanks and move on to get my beer.....after a couple beers and some good chit chat with a old friend. I head out....passing the same kids I bumped the wobbley ass table and a kids pint knocks over.....I didnt notice anything spill but they started in on the ol "hey man you spilt me buddys beer".....shit man Im sorry Ill buy ya another, my bad....they go on and on and on I SAID ILL BUY YA ANOTHER BEER!! .......So now I got 3 dudes and a chick giving me shit for spilling a empty beer?? One got got a little to close so I grabbed him up and threw him through a table and chairs..the other hit me in the jaw and another grabbed at me ol neck.....I punched out of it and turn to face the crowd. they were still coming at me so I pulled my Knife and backed them off..the bar managere came out and broke it up...they then "told" on me for spilling the beer and pulling a knife...they faild to mention they jumped me and were about to jump me again until I evened the odds.
So being the bigger man I explained myself and left...thinking it over thats why I dont go in there in the first place, and I should have known better.

My Dad tells a story about when he was in the Army in the early 60s.

My Dads a little guy, and he hung out with a couple guys that were lineman for Iowa or Ohio or somewhere. Seems the same thing happened to him as he was walking out of a ginmill outside Ft Dix. Except the group of guys given' him trouble didn't know he was with the big dudes.

My Dad and these punks are out front of the bar and the words are escalatin'. All of a sudden the two buddies of my Dad are in an all out fight against each other, slamming into cars etc.

Reminds me that its been nearly 20 years since I even came close to getting in a fight. I'd gone to a really noisy club to watch a bar band with two other guys; one really big, and the other kinda small. The big guy got lost playing pinball or something about the time that my smaller buddy got in a squabble with some other guys who were trying to crowd the stage.

One of these guys starts shoving my buddy, and I step in and let the guy know he's taking on somebody his own size. He quits shoving, but wants to play "blink" or "eyeball chicken". This goes on while he pulls out a cigarette, pops it in his mouth, and whips out his lighter, never once breaking eye contact. I've had problems all my life where people just fuck with me because I'm skinny and small.. An easy target I guess. It doesn't help that I look goofy and typically am dressed different than everyone in the crowd, but.. I tend to just avoid confrontation.. if someone pushes me down, I just get up and keep walking. I do have a tire iron in my pickup though, just in case.. When you're my size it's not so pussy to even up the odds, especially when you have never started a fight in your life.

And like Draglink said: I'd love to own a hand gun, but I'd end up in jail THAT NIGHT. I have THE worst temper, and no muscle to back it up. You fellas ought to live in Iowa, bar fighting is a passage of life. It's a necessary evil in a land of not-much-else-to-do-anyway. The biggest problem though is picking the right guy to fight....around here there are so many farmer-types and other hard-workers that you can't assume the small guy is a pussy. He might have a job throwing watermelons onto a truck. Talk about fucking strong!!!! You DON'T want to get hit by a guy like that. Living here though at least you know you aren't going to get shot or stabbed. That is saved for the college towns.

I personally threw bails of hay and straw (yes - there is a difference) from a trailer on the ground UP INTO a barn window 5 feet above my head - every day. And I rode dirtbike on the weekends to "keep in shape". To look at me you'd assume 5'11" 160lbs - NO PROBLEM, I can take HIM......he he...

My stories aren't shit compared to the ones involving my brother though. He's a real fucking character at a bar. He has the best one liners and shit......Like being with a 20-something John Wayne at a bar.

Like one time he was talking to a woman that he had given a one nighter to in weeks before-hand. She was (rightfully) upset at being taken advantage of, and so bro starts telling her that he could let her take another turn or something like this. That's when a guy hears him being a smart-ass and tells him he better treat her like a lady. Bro isn't a big guy by no means, in fact he's smaller than I, but he has a reputation as being a barracuda in a fight.

Bro nicely takes the guys hat off of his head and drops it on the floor. When the guy made a motion to bend over and get the hat bro tells him "Stop right there muther-fucker! If you so much as look at that hat I will break your fuckin' head open. You turn around and sit down on this seat right here and drink your beer. You can HAVE your hat when I TELL you that you can have it. You do anything else and I am gonna fuck up your pretty face....." Lights a cigar and stands loosely at the side of the bar.....

The guy sits down drinks a beer and is dead quiet. About ten minutes later bro tells him to pick up his hat and go home - he does it.

True story, I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it go down myself. I mean if he had told me the story after the fact I would have told him he was blowing smoke up my ass, but I was right fucking there.....And the guy was a good 30lbs heavier than him and an inch taller. I was like WTF - why would you just obey this little fucker?

That is awsome.. My dad tells me that when we fight. But he's a little guy at 6'1" 350lbs, former heavy equipment mech, and myself only 6'2" 285lbs. But I have been in my share of fights, been stabbed 13 times and shot a couple, and its never fun. Been put in jail for fighting and when I joined the Marine Corps I beat the hell out of one of my senoir NCO's and got put in the brig for a while. That whole walking away thing yeah it works if everyone fights fair, but heres the thing in a fight there is no such thing as fair. I have always had my rule to never kick a guy while hes down, now if hes trying to get back up that sa different story.

Agreed. I don't worry about taking a beating. Hell, I've had my nose broken 3 times and the right side of my upper lip don't match the left!! LOL. But these days, I worry more about the cops and court and all that shit!! I got 3 little girls to worry about. It's a real Bitch when you KNOW you could wipe the ground with them but being in Canada they have practiacally outlawed a little fight to the point you might as well have gunned someone down. Don't matter if they started it here. That's why they do it.

I once had a discussion with my nephew (Young drunk punk!!-whining about how him and his buddies went to some bar and started a brawl and his friend got the shit pounded outa him by the bouncer-my answer?-never start something ya can't finish!!). So he's on about "fair" fights. I told him there's fair fights and lost fights, PERIOD!!
If someone starts it with me, THEY started it, not me. I don't go lookin for shit. Plus I'm too old. (41 and a Dad). I told him if I can't win, I'd just yell "I give up" and when the Idiot lets me up and walks away I'd hit him in the back of the head with a brick or 2 x 4 or whatever. HE started it!! PERIOD!!!
My nephew's like "that's fighting dirty". I'm like "SO?, is it fair for a 6' 5" kickboxer to pound on a little guy (I'm 5' 8" and 160) over TERRITORY!!!
Oh well. I don't live there anymore. Just glad I lived.
As for the gun thing. here in Canada it's illegal to defend yopurself in ANY way!!! My wife recently said she's glad I can't carry a gun as I'd shoot EVERYONE!! Starting with the yahoos who share the road up here. HAHAHAA!!!

Well well well seems I was in the right after all.......during a fight things can blurr I guess. My uncle went to the bar( he hangs there on Fridays) and the manager asked if he heard what happened? He said yea Mike told me and he says he's sorry for fighting at the bar...She said Nooooooooo dont be!! We reviewed the tapes and he was in the right no doubt!!!
Seems the kid that got to close threw a sucker punch I dont even remember, but thats what triggered me!!

One fight that just came to mind after reading the response by the manager was how I smashed some ahole in the nose at a bar that I frequented after he called me a thief and a liar to my face in front of the whole happy hour crowd. He made a move towards me and I "nailed him good'.
