I have a set of new pistons, I assume for 49-53 Ford V-8 since they were with a pair of Edelbrock heads, that have "1/8 L.C."stamped on the top. Box is so old can't read any numbers or anything but the pistons are brand new. I broke the seal on top of the box.
Normally over sized pistons have like .060 or .125 or such stamped on them.
Tell me what I got please? What does the L.C. stand for? Stroker pistons or just overbore? I'm hoping that these are just standard oversize pistons.http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks!

If I remember correctly, you have stroker pistons. LC means lower crown. If you have a stock piston handy it's easy to measure the pin to crown height and compare.

Check your PM's

The oversize you may have to measure. The 1/8th LC is low crown meaning it has a higher pin height for a 4' stroke crank. They are Merc pistons.

I was wondering when you would get around to talking about your 'special find'. LOL http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My "find" will probably end up costing me a bunch of money I didn't intend to spend. 32viper, hotrodA & Oilcan Harry thanks! The knowledge on this board never ceases to amaze me. I'm sure I will be back with many more flathead questions. I've rebuilt several, last one about 20 yrs ago, last time I did valve job on one was about '66. But I don't remember much about them. Hopefully the "old rusty high performance engine with a 3/4 race cam on an engine stand in the barn" I am going to look at tomorrow will end up being a Merc block & crank that these were intended for. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Thanks guys!!
