greetings i was wondering if any one knows about a dual master cylinder that would fit on a 52 buick with all drum brakes. I was just wondering if a later model buick or some other make would fit. something that by chance i could get at the auto parts store. thanks.
oh and since i'm new i'm 25 and just got my first soon to be rat rod. i've been really into bicycles for about the last 12 years, old ones and customs. i finally found a car cool enough to chop and drop, for the right price! hope you guys can help me out in the long road ahead that i have!

What the fuck are you spouting off about?
At least sickboy filled out his profile. I see you didn't
I see he's asking a question to make his car safer.
Since the kids from a gearhead background, and he's a machinist, maybe he would be good to have around huh? Rather than giving him shit.

O didn't see anything wrong with the intro, unless you guys are thin-skinned about the rat-rod comment (slur?) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Like it or not, that name is to stay.

Notice Biscayne, who I qouted, has changed his name yet again, this time to "ooooooooooooooo".
He's done that several times that I've noticed. He also deleted his post too.
Some folks need to listen more and talk less.
Welcome new guy, Glad to see you're trying to make your car safer and more reliable.

I dunno the answer to your question really...there are a lot of companies that make such a kit for many applications.

welcome to the hamb... glad you found us... its my understanding that dual master cylinders became mandatory around 68 because of new highway dept standards, this was also the year they made seat belts mandatory. although a few cars came with duals before, and all after, it's a good starting point year to track down a fit.
i have done quite a few conversions from single to dual on trucks i have had and shopped around quite a bit. if you want vacum assisted brakes autozone crushes the competition at around $80 for reservoir and vacum unit... kragens/schucks and NAPA were in tears when i told them the price to beat because the cheapest they could get it for was $120-$190
if you just want a basic dual reservoir, i have had really good luck with GM duals. 68 chevy seems to be about as universal as they come, you may want to shop around for prices because up until 71 a lot of chevy's didn't come with disc brakes, so as a result most reservoirs between 68-71 will fit. its wierd to because i have found that some monthns a 68 is cheaper than a 70 and other times its not. either way it should be a part that they have in stock.
as was said in an earlier post, its a great idea, and basically you should be able to track down the reservoir, and connectors with additional brake lines, for under $30. good luck.

Do those have the master on the firewall, or in the floor. I'm not familiar with those cars....
If it's on the firewall you should be able to adapt a dual master and booster pretty easy. I've done it using a mid-70's corvette setup as well.

Assuming you're running a 3-speed, have you considered using a Sturmey-Archer setup? (Sorry, bike humor, couldn't resist). Seriously though, you've got a great car to start with, and you've found the right place for info. And with what some people are willing to pay for nice old bicycles nowadays, you may have found a good way to fund your rod. Welcome to the HAMB!
