I think after I finish my plans for global domination, I'll go to Sweden and seize all of those nice customs. They will be hidden in my evil lair for my viewing pleasure, only. Yes, I like them that much! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like Swede's have a better grasp on the cool stuff than most friggen American's!...Maybe that just cuz I live in NY and there are few really cool rides like that that I have seen....still those pics are awesome.

I think you Swedes have the obsession as bad as us! Those are some damn nice cars.

Do you have alot of cars shows in a year? Do you know if most of those are home built or brought from the states that way? Just curious.

You'd be surprised, I wasn't expecting when I visited and saw the talent they have in building those cars. I met a couple of clubs around Stockholm as well as members of CKOS and they have my respects and admiration. I could only imagine how hard it is to find parts over there but they manage to do it and build some of the best looking customs I've seen. And to top it all, they are all really nice people over there! I'm looking to visit again once I could afford it.

It's funny how the foreigners do it better than many US builders do now-a-days.

I think this is due to their following the trends of yesteryear more closely than we do. They look at old magazines and say "I'm building mine like that." They don't cherry pick stuff from different eras and end up w/ shit, is what I'm trying to say.

If you want to see this amplified by ten, take a look at what the Japanese are doing w/ choppers and bobbers right now. Their stuff is so simple and tasteful. No stupid devil tails, no dumb sink knobs, no PBR shit all over the bike, etc. Just clean bikes w/ as much stripped away as possible.

Here's an example:

Yep, it's always puzzled me how they got to the point of having a custom explosion. They must have picked it up in the late 70's early 80's when customs floundered here.

The most beeootiful kustom hot rod in the world is from sweden. That is right, the "glowing coupe"

Must be a rhetorical question, because all of those cars posted are awesome! Seems like there was another thread concerning old iron heading to Europe. I recommend we begin rectifying that situation by sending all these Swedish customs to the US (North Carolina specifically). :-)

But seriously, I never realized there was such a custom car following in Sweden till I read Bo Bertillson's "Classic Customs and Lead Sleds". Keep those pictures coming!

I didnt either until I read that book. And yes I love those cars. I recognize that T-bird from the states.

I too, did not realize the following until I read that book. After seeing it there, I've seen it elsewhere, mags, books, net, etc. The Jappy kats, and Brits are pulling a dead heat with them. It's always kool to see coverage in countries where the cars didn't originally come from. Oh yeah, the Aussies too!

JAP = Jewish American Princess. Jappy kats usually have lots of money, spend too much at salons, and wear expensive designer clothing.

Who would have thought these chicks were in to kustoms?

No, that is a 46/48 Chevy Brewsir's was a 39/40 Merc. Both cars are great. That Chevy started out as a rusted hulk of a 4 door sedan. I plan to use some of the same mods on my Chevy. Quite a few of the cool car from Sweden started out as 4 doors.

pure beauty.

RPW sent me some build up shots of that first car - (made from the 4 door sedan which Ron posted hanging from the crane). Amazing! With that kinda resourceful determination we should send them all the old tin they need. It's in good hands.

If that's one show's worth of cars, that's better than the last GoodGuys event I went to in Charlotte.

It's gonna rip my heart out when my coupe shows up at a show all re-done and painted!

Dare I say, those cars are head and shoulders above most of the tweed-ed, SBC'd, billet wheeled crap I see at shows here in Texas.

Very nice!
