I seem to remember hoods with plastic windows, but I don't ever recall seeing a complete plexiglass hood. Pretty neat.

I've actually seen one on a stock Olds that my dad's buddy has in Sylvania, OH has. He told me each dealership got one back in the day. It was VERY cool looking in person.

Good luck, lately my thoughts are that once a desireable item hits the board the lurker hounds are officially released and middle income hot rodders are not safe to walk the streets of ebay...so that's it then, I'm headed to dig through the stash of wheels I found yeasterday until this blows over.

There were also clear hoods made for Corvairs and for '32 Fords when they were introduced. Any others?
And, there's an early R&C article on making one for an A-V8.

Saw an Olds with the hood and all the graphics (for the new OHV motor) at the Bennington Vt. antique car show a couple years ago. Convertible with wind windows that lifted up from the backs of the front seats, So the ladies hair would not get messy.
Super nice stocker

Kane! Shit! My dad lives two hours from there. I'm bidding on this sum bitch. If I happen to get it I conveniently enough have my 56 Vic being shipped out to Seattle here shortly. It'll fit in there one way or another.
I haven't seen a full plexiglass showroom hood since 1949! I did see a windowed steel demonstrator hood on a restored '49 88 fastback two-door about a dozen years ago. I struck up a conversation with the owner who was friendly and talkative until I brought up the subject of the full plexi hood, at which point he denied that they ever existed and turned just a touch churlish. Gotta love some of those restorers . . .
Yup, I think I have to buy a car for it !
Way cool!

About 1939 or 1940 Pontiac made a show car with the ENTIRE body of Plexiglas!I believe it was for the New York World's Fair and it was featured in High Performance Pontiac a few years ago.Supposedly it is still displayed at various Pontiac events. Will have to find the issue and do a scan.

I've got a hardback book, 100 years of Oldsmobiles or something like that. I'll pruse it tonight and see if I can find a photo of the '49 with that hood on it. If so, I'll scan and post.

I know who the Joesy butt head is, which NY butthead?
There are so many to chose from! hehe
BTW, The Hemi Under Glass was under the back window of a old fastback Cuda. It was a wheelstander.
