A couple of weeks ago, I asked for a kick in the ass to get my Triumph finished. So, I went up to the shop it was living at (Collecting dust) and brought it home. It can collect just as much dust at my house than at a garage 2 hours away. So... Its a '68 650 Bonneville with a bolt on hard tail and a springer front end. The more I looked at the springer, the less I liked it. So, the decission was made to make it a bobber instead. I've rounded up all of the stock front end parts, and I'm going to sell the springer to help defer the costs. The motor was totally re-built as well as the trans and carbs. Lets see how long I can stay on it this time (I've had this project for three years now..)

I understand you wanting to make a bobber, but the springer looks tough!!!! I would go with the springer but either way it should turn out great. Keep us posted! I hope to be posting some progress pics. of my BSA soon!!

I wish I could find a cheap bike to rebuild. I have to sell my Harley now to pay for school and I have been eye-balling the Trumpets for a while now. Just have to convince my better half that I HAVE to ride or I'll just die..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe tripping over it in you own garage will make you put your nose to the grindstone.

The springer is OK I guess, but I really like the bobber style. Plus it will make it slightly more practical. And yes, my garage is so small, I will be tripping over it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. All I need now is Caffine to come over with his Box-O-Tools (tm) and a welder. Git Er Dun!

You have to ditch the Chica fender, they dont fit any tire other than a 21". Early Ford spare tire rings fit PERFECT.

How much for the springer?

hey spike, that looks like a cool replacement for your RPC. (retarded personel carrier) that thing is badass. keep the springer, ditch the fender, and you might want to put a seat on it, unless your into that rough ridin bars in the ass kinda thing.

Good call. I have not love for Trumps w/ springers. Are you going to radius that rear fender for a better fit?

The rear fender is an old NOS Triumph piece. The old Ford spare tire covers don't cover the sides of the tire enough for my tastes. I just laid it on the tire for the picture. Basically the whole bike (Or what parts i have..) was mocked up for that shot. The back fender will be bobbed (It IS a bobber after all) and Caffine has a pedestal mount seat hes giving me. I have some good ideas, just no experience. yet.

also, when that fender is cut up, (short) it will radius a little better and wont be bad at all.

or you can always radius the fender and have it follow the tire line damn near perfectly. If you want to know how, I'll send you a quick and easy way to do it. As long as you have a welder...

looks like a good starting point man! Let me know if you need any help or parts.
