Hey everbody,

I just bought a trunk solenoid kit for my car and got to thinking-is there a way to sort of pop the trunk? Like a door popper for shaved doors, yet for the trunk? I'm asking because with my trunk(it's shaved already) you have to lift the lid, while another opens a pull wire from the interior.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to actuate the solenoid and lift the trunk lid at the same time...

Anyone have any similar issues?

Thanks as always,

Bryan

Ummm...use a door popper, but install it in the trunk.

Go to a junk yard and look at hood poppers on various cars. I used one off of a Dakota PU for the trunk on my '40.

LOL, sometimes the obvious is just out of my grasp of thinking

You might try new wheather stripping in the trunk. It usually acts like a spring to pop the trunk until it gets old and compressed.

I have put together a few electric truck openers using GM power window motors. I take the motor and usually mount it up high and out of the way and then build an arm to attach the two together(the deck lid to motor). It works really good and it's pretty cheap if ya get the window motor out of a wrecking yard. Then just run a simple up/down switch.

I was too cheap to buy a door poper, and I didn't want to drill a big hole in my trunk floor, so I just came up with a spring to bolt down through the striker bolt. Works ok, but I'm still looking for something better.
