I'll be watching. I saw a commercial, but the TV was on mute. It looked like there was footage from Vegas, and some trad. rods, wasnt quite sure if it was a commercial for the "choppers" episode.. Glad to see your buddy getting some props..

Just watched it. Really enjoyed it, although the host is close to what I see as hot rodding, with all the resources, it's not the garage next door. I think he should spend a few days on the HAMB and visit some back yard garages. On the other hand it's nice to see all the attention. I hope it dosen't take the fun out it. Maybe the ex boy band host will take more time to get real interesting and show even more of the 51 Chevy type rides like Zulu. I'd really enjoy a special on Dog Town Rods, clubs like the Yakety-Yaks, or maybe The Lone Star Round Up along with all the Kulture that keeps old school separated from all the homongonus slick of today. Yes, this show got me goin and I wonder if it's good to expose what for me is special and separated from the mainstream.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Should car kulture deluxe should have their own show?

Great show. Two real nice roadsters. Neither one of those cars were cheap, but they never tried to pass them off as, Dare I say, Rat rods, either.
The blue car really got me wound up. It had a perfect look.
But I liked the use of the Pontiac engine in the Black car alot.
All in all it showed how a VERY traditional looking roadster can be built using new parts, and left out all the stupid drama other shows try to cram down our throats.
I hate the cold weather. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif My roadster is about to go into hibernation for the winter. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Can you feel the momentum building?
A few years ago no one hardly knew what a rat rod was...now sudenly, they are on t.v. like every other week.
Soon, we will be overhyped by mass media and be the new American Chopper and everybody will need they're own.
Then we will all just be one more idiot with a rat rod.
Oh wait...I already am!
Oh well, I'm shutting this thing off and going to go watch it right now - I'm sure I'll enjoy it - just wish they didn't have to beam it out to the lemmings http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

yep, cool. I've been watching it, and I take back the "hype" thing.
As far as the "builder" genre of TLC shows tend to go, this one is refreshingly lacking in hype, stupid made-up deadlines and drama. A very enjoyable watch. Likeable guys, and nice rides scatterred thoughout - two thumbs up.
have u caught the episode where they cover the c.c. choppers of burbank, ca? i'd like a copy of it but not willing to spring for the 25.00 copy from the tlc or discovery channel that it comes on!

That lawyer gal narrator was a hottie, but she sure hasn't learned much about cars from her boyfriend.
That black dude's chopped Chevy was the highlight of the show to me.

yeha i agree the lady lawyer seemed very uninformed, but i know that could have done that better ,seemed a little to backwards in the knowledge dept. i hope she really doesnt know the hobby, in stead of just stammering through like she did, after all anything she talked about is easily learned ,typical tv , http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I really enjoyed it, i'll second the "no drama" aspect of it.. The hottie lawyer didn't bother me much, sounded like she was figuring it out, at least she was trying.. it's hard to find a girl that even gives a shit.. a little bit..
Overall I also give it two thumbs up! Very cool. Great cars, great builders! Seemed real informed and just calm for once.. not freaking out and yelling all the time.. I hate that shit.

Congrats to a THEMer, for being famous.
I liked the show, but some of the stuff didn't really work for me. I actually liked the black car, with the Poncho, better than the blue. I even like the So-Cal buick drum covers. But YES, you could get disc brakes in 1962. Details like that on shows shouldn't bother me, but they kinda do.
As for as the young lady. Double congrats to a THEMer for hooking up with a serious hottie! Yeah she came of as not knowing much, but here's the deal. My wife has learned a bunch of stuff hanging out around cars with me for 12-13 years. She doesn't know everything, but she can pick out a HEMI, straight 6, and knows a Merc from a Buick or Chevy sled. But put her in front of a camera, tell her she's gonna be on TV, and I bet she can't remember her name. Just a little shy. So I'm gonna give Troy's gal the benefit of the doubt.

I liked the show.
I kinda got the idea the girl actually knew more than their letting on. I think they played it dumb so they could edit in MR. Details between her segments just for TV.
You can't beleive everything you see. We've all seen how these shows can change things around to tell a whole different story other than what actually happened.

Thought it was cool that every time the term "rat rod" came up they also said they hated it. also at the end during the runs on the salt flats the ceo dude that funded the roadsters said, "I think we did a great job etc.." Hey dork, you did nothing but fund a cool couple of roadsters.. give the builder s all the credit..

Ok I need to clear some stuff up....
Troy I really a good guy and works his ass off at the shop
Divita "The Lawer" She is a super cool girl and she not really a "Car"
girl..They made her looks kinda like a Ditz..but hell she passed the bar exam and i'm pretty sure no one on the HAMB has...
as for the owner of the cars..He actually did do some work on the cars also and was in the shop pretty much the whole time the cars were there...
Zulu IS the coolest and that's why hes in THEM...
I feel the show was really good and I think thay did a pretty good job on
representing Hollywood Hot Rods..
And don't worry about these TV shows that don't understand the
Blue Collar people like us..I'll take care of that soon...

You tell'em P.
I think the show was great. But Devita will be the first to tell you that she doesn't know Sht about cars, she even said that a couple times during the filming, but they edited that part out.I think they liked her to look a little ditzy. But all in all, it made "Them" look pretty good I thought.

BINGO, I agree completely and feel the comparsion/cutting in and out between her and Mr Details was done to prove a point. The point begin that there are many different types of folks, and levels of interest, in this hobby and no matter where you fall in the scale, you can enjoy hot rods and customs.

I don't know. Don't take this the wrong way (HollyWood Hot Rods) your shop looks kickass however...All they did was assemble some SO-Cal roadsters. The frame, chassis components, brakes, rear, brake lines, fake drums, etc, etc were all So-cal. The body was a ready to go brookville and the engines were farmed out. What did they do but assemble some stuff? I mean you can order that whole Kit right from SO-cal ready to go. How do they get off calling that a 1932 Ford when all it is, is a glorified kit car? I mean I like them but hey it is what it is...
