I got a box full of Model A shock at an auction last week so I could rebuild/or get a good pair. Most look to be rebuildable. has any body rebuilt a set. I have a nice set of '37 for the front and would like to run the Model a's on the rear.

Try and get hold of a copy of Les Andrews' book 'Model A Ford Mechanics Vol 1'. It has a chapter devoted to rebuilding front and rear shocks for A's.
Rebuild kits are available from all A spares stockists.

Somewhere here I kept an article written by a machinist who rebuilt his Houdailles. In a sentence he says it cant be done. Each shock is individual, no interchangeability of parts. To do it right takes an unreasonable amount of work.

I'd be interested in seeing that if you can find it, as I've never attempted a rebuild on one of mine.
The kits that are available are just the seals if I remember correctly.

A lot of people say that they are too much work to rebuild, but people do rebuild them and there are lots of articles on how to do it. Give it a shot. You can't break something that's already broke!

If you decide it's not feasible to do it yourself, Apple Hydraulics rebuilds them: http://www.applehydraulics.com/houdaille.htm.
