Shit, this happened quick.
Got a call from a fella' who said they were given a Model A that was burned up in last years firestorm. They were gonna go through it and pull off anything salvageable, but seeing that they are more in to the Model T, decided not to fuss with it.
I had time to post a quick post right here on the good ol' HAMB to see what some of you all thought (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=575184&page=1&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1). The response was pretty much unanimous, and jived with my gut, so I called pal bak and they said they were on the way.
Holy shit, this thing is twacked, but then when you start looking at it, there are all kinds of little things salvageable. Even if they are just objects of art (dibs on the smashed grill shell).
SLAMIT has been looking for some budget sheetmetal, so he's got some. We are going to start cutting into tonight and try to come up with a list of parts to sell to try to fund some other stuff arounds here.
Enjoy the pics...

I'd stick it in the yard and plant an oak tree right in the middle of it. Then put a for sale sign on it.

Makes me sick. What a shame.
Cool for you. Not much to work with there but hopefully someone can use some of the sheetmetal as patch panels.
I'm sure the metal is mighty brittle with all the heat.
escuse me while I puke.

I think that's the remains of a Kari-Keen (approximate name) trunk, which opens out into a sort of small pickup bed!

Oh yeah, that little trunk was full with CRAFTSMAN tools, looks like a trip to Sears for some replacements.

humm... thats pretty scary looking haha. at least parts of it will go to other projects, so its not a complete loss.

If that was a fully restored concourse winner, I wonder how badly the motor is damaged inside? I can imagine that everything on it such as manifolds, etc would be trashed, but I'm sure the motor has seen a nice little rebuild. Also, the gears in the tranny might be worth some money to some Model A guys. That front axle should have survived the fire as well. Yeah. You will be able to pull a few little things off of it here and there. Hell, it was free!

I guess you'd call them the quarter panel ends. This is a better photo.

That brings back some REALLY bad memories. In 1983 I had a '32 2dr. stored in a rented building. It was adjacent to an apartment building. One weekend while my wife and I were taking my son back to college the owner of the apartment building, after making sure everyone was occupied doing other things, torched the building to collect the insurance on it. The fire got out of hand and one wall of the building collapsed on the storage garage. While the firemen were concentrating on keeping the fire from spreading to adjacent house the storage garage got involved to the point they couldn't save it.
I lost the '32, 3 '32 frams, a model A frome, a '34 frame, a new quickchange rearend and about $10,000 worth of parts and tools. The '32 looked about like the A in the pictures and everything else was just a molten mess. Still makes me sick to think about it.

Its sad to see things like that...but atleast someone is still able to use some of it. I was in a junkyard the other day and ran across what I believe were 2 33-34 Ford fordors, completely burned to the ground...but one still had a tuned port motor, mustang II front, nine inch and some other stuff...the other one looked like an in progress with a sbc and mustang II as well.

I would check out the engine & tranny, they are tough. Unless had water dumped on them bet they are ok.

Fewww! What a day.....
First off, just about anything off this car that is salvageable is for sale. Let me know what you need and make me an offer.
The only thing spoken for is the rear part of the sheet metal which is going for SLAMIT's rod. All else is up for grabs, feel free to PM or email me your interests. Once I get my arms around this, I'll post a parts list in the classifieds.
Just a few more pics of what we ended up with 12 hours after this was dropped off. BTW, thank God for Otto138's 57 truck in the drive, it made a conveient anchor

Me and my world, my lovely 8 year old daughter, Georgia. She has no idea how proud her Old Man was of her. She actually went and put on her overalls and boots just to hammer on the frame, here she learns the basics of a breaker bar and 3/8" drive...

man what a day. when I got the call saying that there was a model a sitting in geeman's drive way I had no clue it was anything like this. but after some unraveling this turned out to be pretty cool. and after about half of the 30 pack it started to have a lot of potential.
nothing cooler though than little Georgia coming out and lending her hand in the project. Made my day to see the look on geeman's face when she came out in her overalls and said "Dad give me a hammer".
Another good day.
