View Full Version : Big Thanks to guys for NE Georgia Swap Meet

Okay, so my swap meet started at the small end of the scale rather than being the Carlisle of Atlanta right out of the gate. It'll grow--I'm committed to it. (hell, all the big investments were made just to get this first one going--the rest of them will only make me eat Raman noodles two or three days a week, instead of six, so I have no problem keeping at it for as long as I need to)

I'd like to thank all the HAMB regulers and lurkers who made it out to support me. I suck with names (and after only having 2-4 hours of sleep a day for the last 4-5 days, I'm lucky to remember mine), but you know who you are. Hot Rod Primer, Stevie G, and dammit I remember talking to you other guys and recognizing your HAMBdles, but now I can't name you for the life of me. And some of you guys put in a long drive to get here! It wasn't just guys in the Atlanta area. You guys are great, and I really appreciate it.

I really appreciate the support of the HAMB and the members here.

-Brad

that's right--Hellbilly and Hog Mountain Dave! Sorry I flaked on your names, but I do remember you both--just horrible with names.

I'm excited about next month's show--we ran the numbers this morning, and with a couple of changes, I should be a whole lot closer to breaking even next month. Like the port-a-john guy's office won't burn down two weeks before the show, taking my order slip with it and his phone lines, leaving me to bend over for the only outhouse dealer I could find on Saturday. And the event insurance is going to be a few hundred dollars cheaper, too, so that'll be good.
And besides that, all the really hard stuff is done--equipment and supplies bought, field marked off (8 1/2 cans of bright orange spray paint and walking over a mile, bending down every 20 feet to spray will wear you out).

We're putting Andrew on rain dance detail.

Thanks for coming guys--
See you the first Sunday of November
-Brad

Oh yeah, it'll have new hours, too: What do you guys think: Vendor set up at 7:00, gates open at 8:00, or set up at 7:30, gates open at 8:30? I'll base the final decision on the HAMB'rs that attended, and two other guys who already bought their spaces for next month.

Good idea Brad on the later starting time.
Its a little cool at 6am in November up in those north GA mountians! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I have seen it snow in late October at Road Atlanta during the WERA Grand National Finals!
