How was the day? Did many early cars show up and run?
I haven't been to that strip since the early 70's and I was hoping I could make it today. maybe next year.

Leadsledmerc, it was probably the biggest one since I've been going. The show cars stretched from the dragstrip fence to the swapmeet out by the road. They ran 4 Pro-Modifieds,one of which was destroyed in a finish line crash and lots of nostalgia and gasser cars. In fact,there were so many,they didn't run the nostalgia cars until after I left at 4pm.

GTO, I saw you make some runs before noon,but I couldn't find your car in the pits.I never saw so many race cars there before!!Sorry I missed you.

There were quite a few traditional rods there as well as a few nice customs,but these are all of the pix I took.

Only made one run before noon but it was a bad one. My clutch was slipping and then I missed 2nd. DOH! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Then during my first elimination run my clutch worked great and I was so far ahead of my opponent that i put the brakes on at the end of the track to let him catch and I still broke out! LOL It would have been my best run ever for sure. Oh well. It was fun just being there.

There were quite a few nice Nostalgia cars there but only about 30 racing. Lotta down time due to oil spills and at least one accident where a Pro Mod lost control and slammed into the cement wall that lines the track. He was ok though thankfully. I didn't leave the track till about 7:15 last night cuz a couple friends were winning! The guy I came up with ended up red lighting right before the quarter finals. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I got there just before the wreck. I saw GTO's car, but couldn't find ya. CruZer, sorry, but I have no idea what you look like, so I probably walked passed you a hundred times and didn't even know it.

I've got a few pics of a couple of races, but I don't know how they turned out...gotta wait till I get home and hook my camera up to the computer...I'll post 'em when I can
