Hi all! I'm from Spring, Texas just north of Houston. I have a 1934 Plymouth that my dad picked up in Arizona back in 1993. The car had sat in a guys carport since the 60's before my dad found it. We worked on it when I would come home on leave from the military. My dad painted it in '94 and the car really didn't go much farther than that. It had the original drive train and the engine ran fine but the steering and suspension were shot and there was no interior besides the old school bus seat someone put in it. I eventually got out of the military and went to college before I moved to Houston in 2003. The car had been sitting in my dad's barn since '96. I finally had time and money to work on the Plymouth so I had the car shipped down here from Idaho. I had planned to put a later model flathead 6 with dual carbs and dual exhaust and make the car look like something a guy would build in the late fifties. I took the car to American Classic Cars in Conroe, Texas to have the work done. I scrapped the flathead idea when I found a nice 354 hemi and had it shipped to the shop. Well, the business got raided because the owner and his some were ripping off people with the car sales side of the business and I got stiffed for all the work they promised me. So now I have a half finished car, a lot of frustration and mistrust, but the motivation to see my dream car built.
I'm looking forward to talking with people here on the HAMB. I should have done this long ago really. I probably would have avoided to situation I got into.
Anyways, my main goal now is to find a good rod builder in the Houston area to help finish the project. At this point the car and frame are painted, the 354 hemi and 727 are rebuilt, and I have a 9 inch ford to slap under the backside. The suspension and steering needs to be figured out. Right now it is running with the original IFS with aftermarket disc brakes and lowered spindles but I'm not sure how to adapt the steering to it. Really just need to figure out how to make the whole drive train work together safely.
