If you want something different in the way of tailamp lenses look inside some new cars. I found this on the inside door panel of a late 90's Ford Contour. It is the
warning light when the door is open. I have seen several with different shapes that would look great as tailamps.
You never know where you will find that lens that is just right for your rod or custum. Keep an eye out.

That is a cool looking tail light... or door light... or whatever. It WOULD make a cool looking tail light.

But I would just cringe every time someone asked me what my tail lights came out of and I had to say:

"93 Ford Contour"

Does that make me a snob??? Or just insecure?

Why do ya need to tell them what it came from? Be silent, be cool.

Would the mounting bucket be useful as far as using the lense for a taillight?
Weatherstripping etc.?

What are the measurements of the lense?
Looks a little larger than the typical 39 taillights.

It's 4 1/2" long and 2" wide. You would have to make your own mounting bucket which wouldn't be to hard, just get some sheet metal and go to work. This is how I make my housings. Cut the shape of the lens out of a block of wood, then bend the sheetmetal around that.

Is your blocks four pieces of wood ( looks like plywood ) glued together? That's a cool idea! All's you have tell them is the parts counter dude hooked you up with some MYSTERY taillights http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
...I wouldn't cringe at all. After you tell somebody what they came off of, they'll be going " Well, why the f**k didn't I think of that"??!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yep, plywood and a band saw does the trick.

Side Markers on a Taurus are the same shape, may be the same lens, and you can modify the backing for a tail light bulb. They come in both Red, and Amber.
