View Full Version : Old Guy Quattro
Kanadian Quads [tm]... I cant put 31 A headlights on it... im gonna make some wicked sixtys front end that'll strike terror into the hearts of men.
I want to make them into seperate "pods" with acrylic frosted covers to fit them....
im just playing... but im gonna do something awesome.
its a sixtys car... it has to have QUADS.
ill save my grampas headlights for my next hot rod...
I started to Cut up the grill... cut the center out and the bottom off... im gonna fill it up with BULLETS so I kill kanadian geese... or do something even cooler?? I might still section a little out of the center, but it looks cool low and fat with the headlights out there on the sides... this is the best part of building.

Peterbilt quad headlite pods, expanded metal grille insert with round cabinet/drawer handles (various sizes) or whatever handle shape gets you (might get expensive) not much for airflow thru the radiator but handy for taking the grille shell off and on. Firewall gots to be chrome or polished aluminum or mirrored plastic. See thru colored spark plug wires. Metalflaked rocker arm covers. Back from Canada eh? You and Bob are hell on golf carts and Hondas.

looks wicked!
how about getting geese laser cut out of sheet steel in an interlocking pattern, kinda like an escher illustration? or am i getting a little silly?!
I second the Pete pods. There is a guy in Pa. that sells alot of Pete trucks and parts.Vanderlely's-610-847-5204.Or in Ohio,Jerry Hoover-330-878-6630. Pods mount horozontly with a mounting stand that curves back to the side of the grill. Choice of round or square lights.

I'd mount 'em on the backing plates so they turn with the front wheels and where that little triangular area is(the original bottoms of the lights)I'd make a scoop to feed fresh air to the brakes(after drilling about a gazillion holes in the plates!) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Seriously it doesn't look like a bad idea.Different is good.

Better get ahold of the Beach Boys. I think your car should be on the cover of their next album. Everyone is doing the RETRO thing and this time Tuck could become a rockstar too. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

wana know the truth?

Yes, yes, and yes. It's going to be a far out car.

What's a "Boot Ho"?
pig pen...
i think a "boot ho" is a chick with "f@#$ me boots"...the kind of long black boots that zip up to the knee's
and she travels...
thats my definition... shes a hamber
looks cool
keep the fat shell nad maybe move this lights in like 1/2 an inch?
I like the concept man.work it like a stripper on a brass pole.
Instead of mixing a semi-sorta aero later headlight pod setup with an older style car why not make up a trad style headlight mount running four headlights?
Maybe setting the headlights up in vertical mode instead of horizontal mode like George Barris did on the AMBR a few years back.
I like Safariknut's idea of setting them up so they turn, but perhaps better would be having the outside pair turn with the wheels.
There are 5" diameter headlamps available - not sure if they have a high/low beam though.
One source for these is older Ford - and perhaps others - farm tractors.
As clever as you are I'm sure you can figure something new and classy other than plunking a sheet metal piece in place.
Time for the pondering chair maybe? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tuck, take back your statement. The BeachBoys are not gay. Still digging what you got cooking for the front end treatment. As for Traveling bootho.. well she wont miss her lights.. just tell her say can only drive during the day.
Boones did I say the beach boys were gay? They're just to happy for me then, we dont have beaches up north.
I wish I had more lights to play around with... and I know this car looks like an older style car but im changeing alot of things to make it full on sixtys show...
im going to paint it in kandy flake eventually... and change alot of stuff you more trad guys will probably cringe at... but ill make it RULE.
C9, I was looking at the possibility of making the top set of quads (maybe not this pair) work with a "guide" style headlight backing with the turn signal on top... work the line from the trim ring into the housing, or I was playing around with making a line that ran back to the frame so it flows with the bones..., i'll take pics but it would be painted/mesh/chrome/ just playin...
im just mocking stuff up... and thanks for the ideas.

That car is sixties all the way. Has been from the start. there is nothing "earlier" about it.
It will end up being absolutely period correct......
No confusion here.
It is funny though, we have lights off of a 61 Buick that will end up on the H- Bomb. They look really similar. It must be something about Hemis........
This was a quickie mock up on the H-Bomb a few months back.

The Beach Boys suck.
The Choppers from Canada Rule. I think Tuck's roadster should be a tribute to them. HaHaHa
the frame horns are in the way but i might change that, what I was thinking was makeing a chrome mesh "splash apron" that ran off the lights... this would run the same angle as the bones.
pic two... to get an idea of the ideas rollin yo
they kinda look pissed at night.
