I received a 9in housing this week with a pile of parts that I bought. Apparently it's from a 68 or 69 mustang and is supposedly a good fit for an a bone? It is 55" 7/8 flange to flange and the pot appears to be off set a little. Is it worth anything? Trying use it as barter material and have valued it at $150 for trade purposes.

where are you measuring? axle flange to flange? or housing flange to flange? are you measuring the distance between backing plates?a 68/69 mustang should be 59-1/4" betweeen axle flange to axle flange,a little too wide for a model A

tell us more about the rear end...where is the oil level hole?in the pumkin or back cover? are there 2 dimples and/or a flat band in the back cover area? is the back cover smooth or does it have a cut out area for the ring gear?

Check out http://www.kevinstang.com/Ninecase.htm for some pretty decent 9" Ford ID information. There are also other links on the site for even more information.

Thanks for the thread BigCheif. I have a couple 9" rears that a guy gave me, now I can properly ID them.

Give me the code off the tag under a pumpkin nut. Assuming it hasnt been changed I can tell you exactly what it came from.
Same for 8".

thanks guys. Traded it off on a NICE complete set of rolling 36 ford axles with springs and even nice shocks on the back. Gave the 9in housing and $100 for the 36 axles.
