I don't have a lot of info right now.
There are a number of varieties. They come in Mustangs, too, which will withstand more torque, but the shifter is located much further back.

There is a differance. There is the World Class and non World Class types, and several differnt sets of ratios depending on application.I think the 4 bangers get a much deeper first gear. The S10 shifter is further forward, and can be swaped with the tail housing and output shaft onto the Camaro/Mustang trans.

I have an 89 camaro t5 and it is a toploader and the shifter is in the far rear. S10 shifters are more towards the middle, I believe. Ive heard that you can put s10 parts/the shifter onto a camaro one, but idk if it is true.....................Briggs

Seems like somebody on the RRT mentioned the Camaro T-5's bolt onto the Bellhousing at a slight angle.

I just picked up 2 S10 T5s at the 1/2 off p n p. Hot Rod wise the S10 is the way to go cause the shifter comes out of the top, right behind the gear case, instead of on the tailshaft. These fuckers are light too. Also found out they don't use regular gear oil. I made a mess of auto tranny fluid taken the trans out today.I measured and it looks like the same bolt pattern as older gearboxes.I don't know what the ratios' are. Larry

Don't expect to get a lot of miles out of them with the auto tranny fluid...the factory did that to make them easier to shift. I run 20W50 in all of mine...if they are really sloppy you can put 90w in them but they are a bitch to shift when cold.

I got 2 today too at the pick and pull 1/2 off day in newark but they only had camero ones so the shifter is a little further back i think it will be ok with the bomber seat i wanna run as long as i keep the shifter a decent height I am not gonna complain at $37.50 plus core i can also goose neck the shifter

The Camaro trans bolts on at an angle and the mount location on the tail housing is angled. I can't remember the year brake, but later transmissions have an elctronic speed sender and do not have provisions for cable. The Camaro and early S-10 boxes have the same bolt pattern as the old GM 4 speeds, Mustang boxes do not. The V8 and V6 Camaro boxes are also different internaly, the V8's have different spline input shafts and are stronger inside. We use the V8 Camaro box with the S-10 tailshaft and housing. When looking at S-10 boxes at swap meets, be sure to check the shift pattern, some boxes were 4 speed non overdrive but look just like the 5 speed. Hope this helps.
i picked up a few of the s-10 trannys recently, i figure for $60 at the junkyard i can deal with swapping them out when i grenade them.
i thiink the real question is which clutch to use with the s-10 14 spline tranny.

I also run gear oil in trans that take ATF, first shift in AM tough. You can't do that with the later World Class T5's as they went to a paper cone synchronizer and other than ATF will eat them up. Also if the trans takes the bolt in electronic speedo sender, replace it with a cable drive from any earlier GM stick shift.

Sorry Slazzen. Read the article posted by Kustom52. The S10 conversion moves both the shifter and the speedo drive hole, but not the speedo gear on the trans shaft.

Can you still use the tranny if it's a 4 speed? I got what I thought was a 5 speed saturday but it's only 4 speed. This one also has the mounting boss for the slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch. Is this still usable? later plmczy

90wt seems a little much. I've been told in the non-worldclass units to use 70 wt.
