Cool pics acrochicken!
Thats a good idea for a trophy Matt, first I've seen like that..

I've been busy doing some stuff to put in new "local brand" clothing store, I'm pretty excited about it. I'm putting some buckles and keychains in there, but they want some of the bike and car sculptures too:) Anyone in the Detroit area should check it out, you can pm me, it opens in two weeks.

I did this one tonight, I like it a lot:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3242/3009073259_9e8736ec5d_m.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/browndogwelding/3009073259/in/set-72157608725935561/)http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3271/3009911190_0d12be83a0_m.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/browndogwelding/3009911190/in/set-72157608725935561/)http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3159/3009074353_5310f8d1ff_m.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/browndogwelding/3009074353/in/set-72157608725935561/)

And I finished this tonight too
The "Pinewood" hot rod...it's seems to remind everyone of a pinewood derby car:)

Great stuff so far you guys. Jdustu, those bikes are killer--well done! Here’s my latest mess in charcoal...this time the reference is a great photo by Joe Lingrey, taken at El Mirage c. 1949 (I think). I’ve been trying to find him, with no success yet, if anyone can put me in touch with him I would really appreciate it. Anyhoo, the drawing is 7 feet wide by 4 feet high, plenty of tweaking yet to do but it’s getting there. Because someone usually asks, no, I don’t use a projector. That would be way too logical. Thanks! :) Molly

Here's a sketch I drew by accident. I was working up an underlay drawing from which to
draw the bubble top, the idea being to see the interior from an interesting angle. I think
the modified turned out better than the show car. The bubble top is just a quick color
study I whipped out in Photoshop over my pencil sketch.

The quick study:

The clean up ( of sorts):

That is some fantastic work, any plans to sell prints?

Inspired by a moth.
Ever see a Luna moth? They are the coolest looking bug.
Mint green, swoopy curves and super rare here in Ohio.

Great stuff! I haven't posted any art for awhile.. cause I have not done any!

So.. I thought I'd post one of MY DADS drawings. Dan Shaw, my father is a pretty damn good artist. I have numerous sketch books of his from the 60's and 70's of drag cars and hot rods. I'll get them scanned in and post some another week.

He did this a couple years ago for a guys business card.

Work kind of does that to you sometimes.

I was looking through some photo proof sheets of mine and thought this section looked interesting. Added a bit of tint of course.

Always a great show its a blast to see everyones art. Thought I would share my current build, its called the Kosmic Kreep, it started out a 1/8 scale 29 roadster. Did some fabrication and scratch building, and yes thats a blown 392 hemi, still a long way to go. Trying to decide on some sick metalflake color to paint it, I'll post some shots if I ever finish it.

Thanks! :) Molly

Here's my latest pencile rendering. It's 20"x26". I know it's not your typical Hamb subject, but I think everyone would appreciate this barn-find if they saw it. It's a 1922 Harley police bike from a northern suburb of Chicago. It looks complete and very rusty. There is a pacing speedo on top of a box on the gas tank to catch the speeders and in the box would be the ticket book. Ed

For those of you who don't know, these are hand made by me, and is number 5 of five so far. They are one-off hand sculpted, then casts with resin, carved some more for detail, stained or painted, bullet teeth ( real ones from 22 ), CNC Aluminum parts, and misc. stainless hardware.

I airbrushed this one up when I used to do a sketch pad type thing for Street Machine Magazine here in Australia, back in 1993. It was inspired by Charlie Smiths turn the car around backwards concept art that he applied to a few early corvettes, I thought an early Holden would work too, it's an EK Holden, sort of a 3/4 scale 57 chubby with a 300ZX roof.

Ed

Hello, I have been watching this thread for a few weeks and I think all the art is really cool and retro.I am 13 and draw in my spare time, when I am not cruising around with Dad and Grandpa.I would like to post my latest drawing inspired by you guys.Tell me what you think. I would also like to thank Jokem59 for giving me some great tools and tips. NickYour truck sits nice and fires ideas of rattling down the road. I found my first published drawing (done when I was 12)- see if I can post it next week.
If you dig retro style there's a book which covers retro & all other styles since the forties that you'd enjoy- 'Car Design' by Paolo Tumminelli- teNeues Publishing Group 2004; ISBN 3-8238-4561-6. I've seen plenty of car books but this one has cool factory photos of cars I've never seen B4 ( Ford 'La Tosca' concept 1955- W0W ! ). Not cheap ( I paid $40 Australian) and only about A5 size but nice paper, excellent printing and amusing text in four languages. A keepsake.

I think you will find, that children are their most imaginative before
they start going to school, and the system sucks away their creativity.

I agree completely with the school sucks statement.

I've tried the canvas thing, but she seems to not be able to handle the media. It's like she gets mesmerized by the paint or something and starts smearing....first the canvas, then the floor, then herself....and me.

She's kinda not too good with crayons and pencils either. She's done a pretty good job with the walls in her playroom. Her momma made me take away the crayons.:D

She's got a chalkboard/marker board coming to her for Christmas.....and I'm going to keep working with her on the canvas and paper thing. I agree I need to get some of these masterpieces onto something permanent. :)

Thanks! :) Molly
