Hi there... Like the header says, long time reader, first time posting.
Got my first truck when I was 15, for $250. All original '64 Chevy (see my
profile pics) minus the side chrome. I still have her, and have added a few
more cars and trucks here and there.
I'm no stranger to junk yards, and the day before my first child was born,
I had my wife at the junk yard with me, searching out A/C compressor brackets for my '82 truck. Being in the Air Force to start my career, I've
spent many hours taking starters and other things apart, and using other
junked ones, to come up with something that would work. Raising a family
on $10K a year, you can get pretty resourceful.
Now a days, I spend most of my time with a nail gun, restoring my
1930 historic home in N. Texas. Over the last 6+ years, I've just about
done it all. It has definitely become a labor of love. I've gotten about 75+%
of our restoration done, and that has lead up to my latest purchase.
Last Christmas, I purchased a 30 Model A sedan body from a fellow HAMB
member, out in Odessa. She's rough, she has dents, and I think rolled at
one time in her life... But she a diamond in the rough for me and my son.
And hope to cruise the highway with my wife and three kids in her one
day, before they get too big and don't care anymore..
