Anybody else notice that the "Jalepeno" needs a panhard bar? The rear axle was offset about 4-5 inches to the driver's side when I saw it. Definitely a high-impact super-lowboy!
FONZI

Jalepeno has a panhard bar, the bracket bent. He straigtened it out pretty good with my channel locks, but looks like more gusseting is needed. Bitchin car, and a cool guy.

Pics are cool enough! Look slike you had most of my favorites in there. As far as the choppers went, it seemed like every time one really grabbed my attention, 4 out of 5 times it was powered by a Triumph Twin. I must be going British-queer or something.
Don't tell my wife.

I think I had a pic of one , but I found out that you can't take a pic looking towards the sun( yes I'm retarded). So I deleted them because they were way to dark.
I didn't relize that Watson's Grapevine still existed until saturday. http://photo.starblvd.net/~59ford/2-5-3.jpg

That's what i thought, but this looked spot on. If this was the clone then it must have been done awhile ago(body was cracking,). The dude had a photo album showing the history of it. It was kind of beat.

I believe that two clones of the Grapevine have been built, and both were at Paso around 1999. As I recall, this (lighter) car replicates the earlier version of Grapevine, and the other (darker purple) car was built by the late upholsterer Manuel Arteche to look like the later Grapevine. Both were way cool.

OK. It has the original license plate on it. I even whipped out my old mags that have it in it and that is the same plate. At the show I looked at both front and back plates to make sure they are the same #'s and they were. I really think this might be orginal. We might have to start another thread to get to the bottom of this.
59FORD
10-20-2003, 07:43 PM
If you look at the plate it is FNN 551. Same #'s front and rear. Find an old picture and the plates match the orginal car.

I'm dropping the subject now. Here it says that it is a clone. http://www.customrodderweb.com/events/0311cr_paso/
Some how he scored on the plates.

Yep it is a clone. I have met the owner. Real nice guy from Oregon. The original car was ditched into a ditch in Oregon may years ago. The guy who built this car is a hobbiest. It is a home built car. He and Larry are friends. I spoke to him quite a bit about the Olds fenders as I have them on my car now (thanks to Radshit).
