View Full Version : 1953 Buick chop top rear window???
I need some opinions on what rear window to use on my 53 Buick, the car will have roughly a 4" inch chop in front to a 5" chop in the back. Should I use a 1951 chevy or a 1949 ford rear window. Thanks,

I used the stock window on my old Roadmaster.....
raked forward it was a total bitch tho.....
personally i like the idea of using the original even if it is harder. I dig the way RoadDevil13's looked. have you gotten any other pics of chopped 53's?
Personally, when I read your post I thought... "why chop it at all?"... then I saw Roaddevil13's car and that thing is RIGHT!
Use the stock window for sure...

I like the one pic that roaddevil posted better than a stock rear window. If anyone has more pics send them my way, all the pics will help. What is the window out of on the purple car???

Does anyone have any pics showing how to chop a 53 buick. I'm getting ready to chop mine, and well...i would much rather learn from other peoples mistakes. Any help would be much appreciated.

Pinstriped car with vinyl top rear window looks like it was taken from a 70s custom van quarter panel.
Better most any factory early or late rear window than a piece of flat glass with a rubber lockstrip moulding around it. GADZOOKS!

Chevy rear window will probably match the contours better - '49-51 Ford rear windows have more hump/curve to them.
DON'T do the '49-50 Mercury like that purple one!
Also, if you stick with a GM part the styling will look more "right" in my opinion.
