I'll put my neck on the chopping block... Barnett gave me some old brushes, and about 30 minutes after the 1Shot arrived from Eastwood yesterday I slapped this down. I know it sucks, but it was the first time I ever put paint on the brushes. I see lotsa practice in my future... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great stuff as usual by all you arty goof offs.
Actually have done a few new pieces this last couple of weeks. As I have 8 striping images, I won't post any model stuff this week.
The first 3 are my favorites I these recent works. I photographed them last night in the garage. I think they really need to be photographed outside to do them any justice. Geoff aka Whodaky
Whoops, meant to say these are 2 el cheapo tool boxes I am doing as give aways for the model display at John's Rod and Custom Picnic. Each tool box will have all exterior surfaces striped and also a 'Whodaky' on the inside of the lid. One will be for the model I like the most and the other for the youngest modeler

Here we go again, couldn't get the images to load on my second post. Had to go out so here I am a couple of hours later.
The first 2 are one and the same, except with a little color added. Again these are on one of the tool boxes I mentioned in my earlier post. The other 2 are on the welding helmet I am working on for my nephew.
Hey Austhotrods that Stude could be a contender, although who knows what will turn up on the day. I don't necessarily go for the best built, but the one on the tables that catches my eye! Geoff aka Whodaky PS sorry for the blurry images!

Man what a great show so far!
Not sure if this qualifies as art but it did involve cuttin',weldin',grindin' and paintin'. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It it an antique floor lamp that I picked up at a garage sale. The top part had two arms broken off, so..., since my wife is a candle freak I decided it would make a good candle stick. I sawed the remaining bulb stalk off and did some file work to open the little horns around the top to hold pewter beads, then sectioned about 30" out of the center, The beads are strung on an old serpentine pewter necklace cut in thirds. I thought it turned out pretty good.

Love the lamp, G V!
I've been doing a little bit of pinstriping... here's my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th attempts, ever, at pulling lines...
2nd: This was my 2nd attempt at pulling lines and my first attempt at design.
http://www.pinheadlounge.com/portfolios/bbs_attempt2.jpg
3rd: Not your traditional pinstriping... but I do strange doodles like this all the time, and wanted to see what it would look like painted.

4th: Fresh paint, just pulled this last night

I don't know exactly how to classify this piece:it is DEFINITELY art but not aoutomotive related unless you count the fact that I found it coming home from a car show! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I don't even know what it is or where it came from so I figured to post it on the art show in the hope that someone from somewhere in the world can identify it and/or tell me what it says on it.
The dimensions are approx.19" long by 12" wide(at the widest point). It is made of wood and covered with an incredible amount of inlaid veneers in various colors and grains(also some other material but I don't think plastic)in an extremely complex geometric design. At either end is an inlay with some letters(cyphers)in what could be either Arabic or Cyrillic.I don't think it's Hebrew but I could be wrong. It's hard to see but the border designs appear to be INDIVIDUAL pieces of TINY wood alternating in natural and black coloring approx.1/32nd by 1/4 inch! There are literally hundreds of them!
There is a signature on the back in ink but I cannot make out the name.
The reason I think it might be Cyrillic is the person I bought it from purchased it from a man I know only as Mikhail.I am going to ask him tomorrow but I thought I'd post a pic or two and see if anyone knew what it was or what it says.Whatever it is,it's an incredible piece of artwork and I only paid $9.56 for it!Don't ask about the price!

That looks more Arabic than Cyrillic, Ray... I don't know for sure though.
I looked at all my Russian Guns, and they all had more "english" looking letters than that. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Either way, cool score!
And, the work is phenomenal. I need to start practicing... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yeah I kind of thought that myself Jay.I have a Russian-English dictionary around in one of my book cases somewhere(I'm a voracious reader;I'm reading 3 books simultaneously now).I tried comparing the cyphers to some on a 17th century Persian jambiya I have but didn't see any real similarities.Hopefully Mike will be able to provide some background on it tomorrow.
To GV:That panel is WILD! I love the way you got the 4 suits to look like a face.

Posted this on another thread after seeing the Art Show here. I guess this is where they belong. Just finished these up over the weekend. Artwork for shirts to be printed.
