Bob's charging $750 for a quickchange rear end. You have to supply a center section, a differential with ring gear, a pinion, and (I think) quickchange gears. He modifies the center section, supplies the quill shaft, the bearings, the rear cover, and does all the setup.
He also sells the finned aluminum backing plates complete with all the brake parts that mount to the backing plate (cylinder, shoes, linkage) ready to run for $435 a pair.
He's also selling stamped steel Lincoln backing plates, Skeleton style racing backing plates, scoops for the Lincolns, new steel hubs made to match up to Buick drums and Ford spindles and will soon be offering Kinmont brakes.
You can reach Bob at his home shop in Flower Mound, Texas at 972-539-2305.
Bob doesn't have a computer, email, or a website. If you are near Dallas, I recommend that you visit his "Facility" in person.

Modernbeat....did he give you any indication what he gets for those steel front hubs?

Yep, a pair is $200. Add another $100 for the bearings and seals. Bob throws in the grease cap and does them in early Ford, late Ford and Chevy patterns. I'll bet that if you ask for other patterns, like Buick, he can do those too.

Thanks.......My early ford hubs are already drilled for chevy pattern but the big boys say using that b.p. leaves too little meat in the buick drum between the stud hole and the center hole, causing cracks in the drum. I'm gonna slip studs back in the early ford stud holes.

If you go to page 115 in the Dec. 2003 Street Rodder there is an article on Bob's wares.
Bob is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. And yes if you are in Texas and want to see his secret facility, give him a call and stop by.

I met him at the roundup....yep..nice guy Thanks for the prices modern!
Now how strong is this setup??? I want to put it under something very light and about 160 HP. Also what rearend would be best to start with?? (I know I could call but this is much more fun being part of the group!!!!!)

I was at Bobs for a short time Sat evening....he has the positive molds made for the Kinmont brakes.
They are gona be sharp as a three cornerd rat turd!
Brewser...To answer your question about strength ..the quick changes use the stock gears...and are no stronger than the original stock 40 banjo. The weakest link is the axle keys..they shear..most likley protecting the other components. If you opt for the 9 inch axle set up, eliminating the axle key...something else has to give...who knows whats next in line.

My best guess (SWAG) if you go with the nine-inch axles and abuse it, then the next weakest link will be the pinon support. I'd bet the pinon will climb the ring gear and either break the casting, or start tearing teeth. Having seen the teeth put under tremendous stress, I'd bet against the casting.

brewsir you do know i have a winters shifter quick change rear end? it's the big boy that you have to choke down for ford banjo housings but it's bullet proof. my buddy runs em in his 900+ horse power sprint cars. i have a complete live axle rearend with a willwood 2 pot and a red devil 3 pot calliper. the 3 pot alone goes for about $350. i know there's a lot of stuff you don't need but you could flip it to get some $ back on the deal. the rear end is magnesium and you can disengage it from the drive shaft with the pull of a cable (customer supplied) so you can push the car around with ease after you blow the motor. if you are interested let me know. if not i'm probably gonna take it to the candlestick swapmeet next weekend and to try to sell it. i bought it with an old halibrand rear end as a package deal and don't really need it. i have come to this conclusion after moving it around my garage for 2 years. see ya, stevo

I just visited Bob's place two days ago and bought a pair of brakes with finned alum backplates but he didn't have the drums available. Do anybody here have those for sale?

Call Bob again. His partner Tom just picked up a pair from me.
