Press release:
Bonneville: Wide Open - a documentary about creative engineering and lead feet...
The 53-minute documentary tells the stories of challenge and comaraderie
among the hundreds of enthusiastic people from schoolteachers to retired
executives who annually attempt land speed records on Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats,
running everything from ingenious streamliners to high-tech hotrods.
While segments feature a variety of participants during and prior to last
year's Speedweek, the film focuses on three teams, including Jack Costella's
Nebulous Theorem IV motorcycle streamliner, Bob Lindstrom's Stay In School blown
roadster, and Jon and Nancy Wennerberg's motorcycle efforts.
People who have seen the film say it gives them a strong sense of "being
there", and even those without a particular interest in cars have found
it very entertaining and informative.
The producers are Steve Davy, an award-winning videographer, and Benn
Karne,an engineer/gearhead. They started making Bonneville: Wide Open in the
Spring of 2003 and, after many days of filming and thousands of edits,
completed it this year. We look forward to seeing you at the showing!
