Hey, HAMBers! I need to know what kind of clips hold the trim moulding onto a 1936-37 Ford pickup grille shell, and where I can get some! Got new moulding pieces ready to go onto my bro-in-law's truck, but nothing to hold them on with!!
(No moulding on the shell when he got it...just holes for the fasteners)
Anyone make something for this, or have any on hand???
I'd really appreciate it!!!
(We have some funky clips that might work, but SOMEBODY must have the 'right' parts?)
Thanks in advance, gang! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The ones they sell for this application do not fit. Not even close. I made small metal strips that slide in the stainless trim, then welded small machine screws to the strips. Then I bolted the trim on. I think using stainless screws and stainless metal strips would be even better.

NAPA has a huge "Book" full of the actual fasteners they sell.
You might also try http://www.restorationspecialties.com
They've got hundreds of pages of fasteners and rubber products.

Here is a pic of one from my grille. I know I have three of them, would need to check in the boxes, cans and other grille shells to see if I have any more. If you need it, drop me a line. I have no trim and no plans to use any.

The oval measures roughly 1/2"x5/8", diameter of the wire is 1/16" and measures 13/16" front to back.

Is it the same size moulding clip that hold the side mouldings on the hood? I will get you a picture of them tonight. The clips that my dad has work for the mouldings on the side of the hood.

I didn't know any 1937 truck hood sides had any mouldings until I saw this on ebay,

This trim looks narrower than the grill trim and from the pictures I'm not sure how it mounts to the hood.

Ok Fat Hack(what the heck is your real name? I get tired of calling you FAT HACK, i feel mean when i say it.) Any ways the clips are plastic. The head is 7/16 round and the hole that they snap into should be 3/16. They are 10$ a box and theres 15 in a box.

WOw that truck is cool. I have had thing for 37 frod trucks since I was a kid. And it wasn't until just recently I ever considerd the hiboy style. But I have to admit seeint that pic removes any doubt I might have.
I sure would like to see that truck.
Does it still have the lettering on the door?

[/ QUOTE ] The hood stainless was on the Deluxe truck. It also had dual horns, one at each headlite
