Call me gay, old, retarded ect. But how loud are baffled zoomies? I want to use the car on the street. I planed on making baffles(like in the tech section). Is there a better way to quiet it down? What have you ran or done? I have heard its bad for the engine if they are too short? How long should they be? I did some searching and found no answers. Thanks

Hey it's gotta be somewhat loud. You gotta let people know when you are comming down the road. Hey what ever you find out you are gonna have to make a pass threw farmington. One, so i can see it , Two to here how loud it is.
i wonder the same thing. a friend told me that years ago he had straight pipes on an olds motor and it really wasnt too loud. i don't get that. what baffles fit in 1 3/4" pipe. harley, vw?? thanks -jeff

Just keep in mind that the exhaust dumping right there is going to slowly kill you at stop lights.......no matter how loud or quite it is............

And you will get better performance with 4 into 1 collectors and tail pipes,
especially at part throttle.
Straight pipes tend to kill low speed performance.

Murpph, Its not my car I just thought it looked cool. I think I may just use headers and an exhaust system. I love the way duals sound.

Yeah, I agree 100% about that being a cool car... liked it when I first saw it in CKD. I was gonna congratulate you if you were buying, and give you a shoulder if you were selling. Hehe. Have fun choosing/setting up your new exhaust!

Slazzen, How long were the baffles when you finished? Could you stand there and talk to each other when its running or do you have to yell? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Here is the link to the home made baffles I was going to use. the baffles ended up being 6" long.....the pipes are 14" long....i can talk to my passenger whiledriving.it's quieter than a sled with lakes pipes. the fumes from sitting in traffic go right inside the cab...and that sucks after awhile....

It mainly depends on what kinda engine your running and how pumped up you have it, Im running a small block with a little beefier cam in it and I dont run any baffles, Its really not that loud at idle or crusin down the street just when u womp on that gas thats when u let people know your coming
