Hmmmmm. . . . . RIBBED for your pleasure

CHOPMERC ran a post in the classified looking for a pair of original ribbed lake pipes. I imagine they're pretty hard to find. But I've also seen old photos of tube shock absorbers with the top section ribbed. Were they a Pep Boys accessory? Or with the right equipment, could this ribbing be done?

Some guys used the ribbed chrome exhaust tips to fancy up their shocks.
