I'd say... I came across this green machine in my summer travels. It looks almost chopped?
Clean it up, mile deep gloss black or dark maroon, red wheels, whitewalls and HEMI! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice rounded butt...

I like the wheels, too.

It has a 'Fordish' look to it, huh?
Does anybody have one of these? Post pics if you do.

If you buy it send me the wheels, I believe they are 4.5 inch bolt pattern. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I like it.

Dunno. Gotta call the fella.
my coupe started out as a '36 Plymouth Coupe, I grafted the windshield and cowl section from a '35 Dodge on to it so the body is very similar to that one.. except I also chopped, channeled and sectioned it and filled the roof and bobbed the rear and raised the wheel wells and uh, other than that it looks just like that one.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

geez , why does it have to be "fordish" to look good? look at the shape of the car not the damn badges
In my opinion has a better flowing top than fords of that era (I never liked that "double chin" where the top meets the decklid). '36 fords look like datsuns compared to some of the more luxurious cars of that era.
. . . and then there's the hemi thing
get on it. . . it's cool.
That car has a lot of potential and when you are done nobody will know what it is , it will just be yours. Like 60's styles car. . . WTF is it? . . . it's cool, that's what it is.

Few ugly cars were made in the 35-36 era, IMHO. The MoPars were some of the best looking mid-priced cars. Nothin wrong with a sleek 35-36 ford 3 window either...just that ford was not the only mid-priced automaker of the time with a good looking car.
I'd be proud to build one but I do believe I'd go for a hot 440, 4 speed....
A 35 Hupmobile coupe would make a great hawt rod too...

...........and just for the record---I am shocked and dismayed that Chrysler did not make a coupe in their Airflow line.....it coulda been the pinnacle of cool coupes.
Thank God we had the Hup coupe to fill the void left by the absence of the Airflow coupe.....[crossing myself and speaking in reverent tones]
Not super trad but super HOT!
If it's good enough for Duke Mantee, it's alright with me.

whoa 60's style is that chopped?
Rocky

The black convertible is a 37....different body than 35-6. The coupes and rag tops have too thick 1/4 panels after looking at the sleeker 35-36's, IMHO. 37 front sheetmetal is ok tho.

How about a gasser 35 Plymouth coupe.......The HAG will not likely get finished by me........but will fortunately get finished up by another HAMB'er....tentative deal going on now......
JohnnyB327,
did you ever notice some people post a response without reading all the prevoius posts?

I like that car a lot. Definitely would be one of the first I would look at anywhere it was parked. Get tired of same old cookie cutter stuff.
chopped, channeled, sectioned, frame stepped, tail bobbed, wheel wells raised, roof recontoured

Although I usually prefer rods over customs, I prefer that style of car as customs. They look awesome! I'd go with black too, but I suck at changing colors in Photoshop. What do you think...

60's Style, that car is RIGHT-ON.
I like that Dodge grill better.
thanks Whizzerick,
it kinda goes against the mindset that the fenderless fat fender hot rod can't be done.
sometimes I'm not sure if I pulled it off or not.
that said though, with a complete car like that one I would probably tend to gravitate toward the general concensus here and build a fast (as in powerfull) custom. maybe with a Desoto Hemi motor, LaSalle transmission and Olds rearend combo, the body wouldn't need much more than lowering and a custom grill, maybe a LaSalle or Packard of the same year to make a really cool car.

I LOVE fenderless cars but its not legal around here.
Cycle fenders can look good on modifieds but on ex-fat fendered cars? the jurry's still out on that one.
I like the idea of a taildragger with skirts and a healthy rumble.
I'd say I'm more of a Kustom guy than hot-rodder?
In fact I'm terrified of speed...
I WILL scream like a little girly... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
hahaha
sometimes after going for a spin with Mrs.60's my left shoulder is a little tender and the same ear is ringing from all the screaming and pounding going on.
she keeps saying "if you're gunna drive like you did last time I'm not getting in!" and then she gets right in.
tail draggers ARE cool! love that clip in the billeet proof post with the Zepher climbing over the curb! cool!

In the very early eighties, when my parents divorced, my father bought a silver Ferrari 308GTS (accessory to the Playboy life he lived). I loved listening to the carbed engine cough in the cold morning air, when my father left for work and I waited for the school bus.
One night, on the Laurentian Autoroute, on our way North to the cottage, I asked him if we could go 'very fast'. He smiled, nodded and stepped on it... At 160 mph, I felt safe and secure....
We where in a car designed for that purpose, I was twelve and... dad was at the wheel. What could go wrong?

While I think about it, maybe you should go with the gasser look.
At least, it would clear the bottomless potholes we have everywhere in Montreal http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
