Bob stopped by my shop on his way home last night. As some of you know, he bought my 50 Ford from a guy up north. I owned this car back in 63-64 & havent seen it since. It still looks good & I know its in good hands now. Thanks Bob for bringing it by & I look forward to taking it for a drive in a few weeks. DAVE

Id like to take this opportunity to say "IM AN ASSHOLE". I never sent him the pics I promised from Holland Mich in 90 from the kkoa nats.If Im not mistaken, the car was also in the Rod and Custom coverage of the event. This week for sure!

I stopped down at the shop and saw it this morning on the way to school.....that car is awesome. It must have been cool/hard to see it again.
How far is it sectioned, and what is the grille out of?

This car is AWSOME!
It was really cool to see Shifts face when he saw that car for the first time in 40 years.
I've got big plans for it. Hopefully I can afford to pull it off..........

40 years... that's amazing. Did Bob give any indication to what he has planned for it? I know he threw out some suggestions when he first mentioned he was going to get it.

It will be better than ever. Lime Gold Candy, straight from Canada, a completely different hood and grill area, Pearl white Tuck and Roll. etc etc.
I'm gonna paint it a different shade of primer for the Pile up and put some Spiders on it. It's really fun to drive.
That car sucks.
You mean I have to drive that hunk of crap to the Pile up??
Fuck.,... Can I drive the Cherokee insted??
Don't worry people you'll get the full story on MFS 2 ..I promis.
Evel
The car RULES. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You should cut the new grille opening in the shape of a maple leaf. Haha.
Wow...that rules!
Yes, pics of the motor would be cool...and what transmission is in it? 3 or 4 spd?
Your plans for it sound like they'll fit the car perfectly.

I'm gonna paint "INVADE CANADA" on the trunk. HaHaHa
It is a 401 mated to the 50 ford 3 speed with overdrive. The overdrive isn't hooked up.
It has a 57 Ford 9 inch.

Great Score Bob.
I would remove those bumper guards first thing. It looks like the bumpers are in good shape, just in case they aren't, I've got about 3 sets of them, was gonna use them on the 52 but they are too narrow and I was too damm cheap to widen them and have them rechromed. All 3 set's need to be rechromed though.
Can't wait to see it. I'm gonna miss the pile up by being out west but I'll be in Milwaukee for school in December and maybe shoot out after school one evening to take a peek.

The motor is mounted with Hurst mounts. Some of the cowl and inner fenders are bugered.

Just like he used to back in the day.
Don't spray it pink for the Pileup,it might clash with Evels eveningwear http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif......Shiny

This thing is really fun to drive, I think I put more miles on it today than it has seen in years. It feels more like a Hot Rod than a Custom. It goes pretty good.
The guy I got it from said he's only put about 700 miles on it since 1968!
It kind of seems the guy did more harm than good to it. He was a shop teacher and would let the kids work on it. They must have tried stripping it with a body grinder because its pretty wavey in spots. Overall it is pretty decent though.
I HATE the grill, I think I'm pulling it out tommarrow. The bumper guards too.
It runs great and drives good too. The only thing is it has a shake, kind of like a bad U joint or something. I think it is the flywheel being out of balance, because it will do it when the car is in neutral.
This is how it looked 40 years ago when Shifts had it.

Could also be a worn pilot bushing.

Yeah I suppose. It's pretty smooth until it gets over 2500 rpm. I'll have to pull the motor to fix it either way.
When the guy I got it from explained the problem to me, I was hoping it would be a U joint or a bad pinion angle.
I'll just nurse it around until I can yank it apart. I would imagine if the flywheel is out of balance, it could be hard on the engine.

Looks like you're heading the same direction with color and looks that Dave has in his photo's...!
No caps, spots, and a different color...!
I'm surprised Dave didn't give you a gallon of "Lavender" (the new pink!)! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Holy Shit! Does Bob still have this? The guy he bought it from was my shop teacher up here in Brillion, I know that car really well. I'd love to know what happened to it. The previous owner always wondered who built it and when, if he didn't ever find out, I'd love to fill him in with the details. I've never seen this thread before, I always wondered if the guy who bought it was a HAMBer.
