Here is a shot of my 348 in the hole. getting closer. I think it was Roothawg that wanted to see the "Beadblast Aluminum" Powder coating on my steel intake?

Very nice. The contrasting colors on the valve covers and intake is a nice touch..
On my 47 build, It was always my plan to powder coat where Chrome and polished Aluminum usually reside.
You have reinforced my plan to powdercoat.
Keep the work flowing.

Nice Tman, most of the powder coated intakes I've seen look more like paint. I really like the way that came out, it does look freshly bead blasted.

We will see how the intake holds up. Seems to claen off real well so far.

I am running Rochesters FYI.

I like clean and simple, nothing wrong with some nice polished finned aluminum, IF someone else buys it for you http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very sano....take care not to scratch that intake paint and start a little rusty spot on your "bead blasted aluminum" intake, giving your secret away...
Hey, I see in the photo you have a bolt in the end of the crankshaft. Don't you know W-motors have a press-fit dampener with no bolt hole? Is that crankshaft out of a 396?

Tommy, I havent seen any competition yet? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Stay together Kenny? Hell, I have to get it together 1st! see that area by the fuel pump? My really cool old style fule pump lays right on top of the frame! A victim of "changingmyminditus", this car was going to have 1/4 elliptic front springs, hence the narrow frame. I am going to pick up a different pump tomorrow and try it. I could stand to move the front of the mill up 3/8ths anyway, so that might be what I end up doing to run the pump of choice. God knows I dont want a noisy electric pump!

Also, as I sit here at the shop at 10PM, I am fighting 3 broken exhaust manifold bolts. They didnt give up til the end and I am about to tap out their remains http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oreillys auto parts told me any small block pump would fit.I bought a heavy duty lifetime pump.It ran about 5 min at startup and broke the plunger arm inside th area where pump bolts to block.......glad I bought the lifetime warranty one instead of a cheapy!
I am going to a small AFB and am looking for a cool ribbed alum breather......any help?

Tman
09-30-2004, 12:51 AM
Valve cover breather or airclenaer Kenny?

Thanks Grady! there are plenty things I would change on this car if I was starting over but alas, this car is my "undergrad" work. Look at Skipstichs concept car post for a taste of my next early project. After the new house, maybe a kid, maybe the 54 etc http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yes, Kenny, SBC pumbs fit the block but I HAD TO HAVE the older style pump witht the bigger body and the NPT threaded fittings because I didnt want a HOSECLAMP on a nipple, I wanted to have a nice looking hose made from the hardline on the frame to the pump.

Air cleaner for the carb.....what do you suppose broke the pum I got? there is no difference in a SB and BB pump on the inside where the rod pushes the arm is there?could a W motor have a minute difference in stroke of the fuel pump pushrod? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
