I should have been here a long time ago. Maybe. I'm not sure. My interests may vary too wide for this forum or my own good. I am sure that I see the truest, most honest pursuit of innovation ,workmanship and style in places like this.

My rodding involvement has almost always been via my Dad with the exception of some good '70s era beaters when I was real young.

My 1st love is customs. '49 Merc, '57 Buick Special....You get the idea. The cost of these scare me so I drug my roadster out of a pile of delapidated Ts. I actualy canabalized this roadster (along with others)20 years ago to help restore a '26 roadster truck. The truck turned out great dispite my involvement.

I shouldn't build my roadster but I will probably do it anyway one of these days. There just isn't enough of it left. I also need to do something with my other yard ornament ('94 C1500). I have been threatening to cannibalize it's drive train for a roadster pick up I've been penciling.

I need to get involved. I need to clear up my direction & get started.

Sentiment is a dangerous thing. I will build my roadster even though it is not practal. The firewall is the only piece that is any good but it is in great shape. I'm sure this will end up being a re-pop glass car from poliform. I'll graph in my steel firewall with the VIN # and strut around bragging that I've rodded an original '26.

I just signed up to see what I might find in here. I have not done any real build work to speak of. I really need to get off my but & turn loose of a little (very little) cash.

I do have an idea for a project that would require a good bit of fabrication. A good bit.....Complete fabrication. So much, in fact; that I am considering not even starting with an existing car.

I have always loved the look of the Model A roadster pickup. I also love the utilitarian look of jeeps. Open cockpit, exposed hardware, & task oriented styling. I'd like to build a 2WD open jeep truck. Pretty much a CJ from the Cowl forward. Cab defining back panel. Full doors w/no window frame. Generic military style stepside bed. A simple dropped front axle with parallel leafs should look natural while setting a nice rake.

The fabrication work seems relatively simple on the surface. I bet it will be very challenging for me & introduce a lot of new skills. I have been browsing here a little. I see a lot of trick work. I am really looking for some really basic stuff to start with & then work my way on in to the rest.

More than anything.... I have drifted away from all my hot rod influences. Lay down with dogs & get up with fleas kind of thing.
