Well,
First of all I would like to extend my gratitude to the following Hambers:
Flt Blk
Daddyo54
MarkX
Honest
Revhead
K&R

We spent about 4-5 hours on the flatty and found a few problems....
The Vacuum advance line that was clogged (I had cleared it last week) was also loose/worn at both ends of the connection... This was not advancing the vacuum advance properly....
Problem fixed by going to Western Auto and purchasing some copper tubing and a couple of brake line style fittings....
PERFECT! Thanks Tyler for your expertise!

Secondly, there is something wrong with my distributor not advancing. Everything looks good in it, but it is just not working. So, after finding TDC (we actually found the timing mark) we installed the new distributor...
It was not tightened down all the way, but a test drive was in order... still ran like shit...
Then we pull the top of the 94 carb open and Honest bends the float tang WAY up..... (it was set to spec by the way)...
I start it up and take yet another test run...
PERFECT!!!!
Pull back in the garage and when we go to tighten down the dizzy, we hear some clanging and banging inside the block.. NOT GOOD!
Come to find out that there are actually 3 different distributors that were used in the 49-53 flatheads...
I had the wrong one...
The one I needed has a thicker shaft http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif and the shaft does not extend beyond the drive gear...
The new one that I received had a narrower shaft that extended beyond the drive gear. (see pic)
Everything still lines up, but the extension at the end of the new one prevents you from tightening it down all the way...

I am returning the wrong one today and my new correct one (from another place) will be here Wed!
Looks like I might make the drags!!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!
HC

This is why you always take the part your needing to replace with you. These parts poeple these days are ready to clear out the stock and will give you anything. Glad to see you finally got her figured out. That car is way too sweet to be having problems. I senn it a t Piston and Paint last weekend and love it. My pops told me it was yours. It is awesome.

Glad I could help. It was a stressful couple hours leaning
over that perfect shiny black fender making sure not to
scratch it.

My tire held air back to the house, I guess I need to get
it fixed before the drags, it is on the burnout side. I
wonder if the nail would throw sparks as the tire spins.

I know it does help to have motorized devices to keep the hounds at bay whilst you hamber out some bugs.

The DeadTown crew torture tested the Trike-O-Doom while we rounded up parts last weekend.

Good to hear you're figuring it out.

Sad you had to be rescued by the Themmer's. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Maybe the Coolow's had trouble cuz I was there?

I see that Jeff apparently owns a ladder so you could reach over the top of his 4x4 shoebox's fender.
