So I've done all kinds of crap to my little coupe with the drags comin up. Painted the wheels red, installed fuzzy dice, scallops and some stripin. It's faster than it was, but heck I've got a week to go! Right now I have 3 Holley 94's. Would I have a better chance of hittin the 100 mph mark with a 4 barrel? Has anyone ever gone from a 3x2 set up to a 4 barrel or vice versa? What kinda power gain or loss did you see. Let's hear your input por favor.

What kind of engine is it?
If it's a modern engine that you can get a modern 4-bbl intake for, I'd go with that. If it's an old engine (like a Y-block, Nailhead, whatever), it's a toss-up. The 4bbl is easier to tune, though.
It also depends on the intake manifold you've got. For my '56 322 Nailhead, an Offy intake would suck--the design sucks. The Weiand 3x2 I have for it looks like it will flow much better (no horrible angles at the bottom of the intake floor going to the runners, etc.)

a friend of mine bought a '64 el camino (brand new) and used to drag it at fremont back in the day.he was telling me he ran a 3x2 at one point, and a 4 bbl. other times.he said the 3x2 would get it off the line better, but the 4 bbl. was better for top end.

putting modern power valves in 94's help the top end.they don't fit right away, you gotta grind out the inner wall of the carb a little...i don't see why they would'nt give enough oomph, plus they're way cooler!

Hey Crease.
What do you want to go 100 for? Keep your threes, the 60's is plenty fast!

They don't give out 60 mph club patches for some reason, not sure why.

I changed my 350 Chevy motor that had a cam with a pretty radical grind from a 650 Holley to 3-2 Rochesters and the acceleration was incredible. I never got to top end,I'd chicken out but it would pull from 40-100mph much better with the 3-2's.

I lost 60 HP on the chassis dyno when I put on my 3-2 set up with a cam that had enougb vacuum to make the set up idle.

The 750 double pumper and 292H cam was a hotter set up.

If your motor is mostly stock I don't think you'll notice much of a difference.

leave your 3x2's in for old times sake. Put in a "Sneaky Pete" for when you want to some kick ass.

If you want to go fast, put on the four. If you want to look cool, keep the 3x2's. I'd say run the 4bl and then change back to the 3x2's after this weekend.
