View Full Version : What did you get done? or how loud do you let it get?
I fixed my '59 pickup daily. The valves started getting a little loud in the last week or two, but I really didn't have time to futz with it. The end of this week it got progressively worse. Well today I took the valve cover off to adjust the valves and low and behold you could see that #1 and #2 were as dry as the could be. Hmmmm.... I checked them and foudn that the rockers for those 2 cylinders were wore slam out. I guess lack of oil will do that. Of course the engine never missed a beat. Luckily I had a spare 235 sitting there compliments of Reece. Lucky me, swapped the whole rocker assembly and voila back to normal. I still think I have a little bit of a timing gremlin... But I'll make it to work no problem. Of course it also killed the day for working on the Buick. Oh well.... Anybody else get anything done?

I went to the Jefferson swap. Found some edelbrock finned valve covers, a rear sump oil pan and pickup, and a lot of good big bars.
spent my nights wire wheeling pulleys getting them alll ready to paint.
hopefully this week I'll get my motor built back up.
Then I have to figure out how I'm going to get it in.

I'm not quite done yet, just having a moments hesitation,
pulled the low rise dual quad and set the tunnel ram I bought yesterday at the Chehalis swap on there,
marked the cowl for a slight trim,
set the carbs and a pair of scoops on to check the look..
now it's grab a saw and start hackin'
I guess... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Is that 'back to normal' with rockers #1 and #2 running with no oil, or did you fix the oil problem as well as fit new rockers? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just out of curiousity, 60's, what carbs are you using to fill that plenum with air/fuel? That's gotta be the biggest I've ever seen. What's the volume on that thing?

That tunnel ram Looks Tits careful tho get a good air filter cause it looks like it will be able to suck up small furry and feathered creatures as you drive by.

would like to but the landlord might be a bit upset and property values has me pretty much locked out for a place of my own unless I want to waste 2+ hours a day commuteing.
I am kinda fond of a 5 minute drive to work it allows me more time for the projects.

Pulled the 390 from my '63 donor t-bird, has been sitting forever and is one rusty mofo, but started taking it apart and it looks to be fairly low-mileage and never rebuilt. poured some coke down the cylinders and letting that percolate overnight. Started tearing down my tranny for a rebuild, got it all apart and still don't know how it works http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif hopefully I can get it all back togethor. And thats about it.

Went to an auction and filled my truck with cool stuff. Got a cherry 34 Ford dash. Got a bunch of spindles some brake stuff and some open banjo stuff. i got so much junk I forget what all I got. I love auctions.
