psychodaemon = RULER..!!
Dude... there were WAY too many VW's there today...!!!
there was only one cool one,
and it was in the spectator parking lot....
PAPAshithole and his gang of bug-tards were
trying to claim their stake, but all I heard was,
"Those fuckin' dipshits think we think they're cool or some shit..."
and "Why in the FUCK were they even let in here..???!!!"
really, really good question.... but then again,
there was at LEAST 50 other very questionable cars too....
whatever... I had fun...

I saw a cool but questionable car over with the VW's. It was Corvair powered and the whole body was formed out of wood like and old speed boat. That was fairly cool. It had an upright grill in the front that kind of made it look like one of them VW/Bugatti kit cars, but hand built.
I have a Renult Dauphine that is painted flat black with "cry baby" flames, red 13" steelies and wide white walls. Can I bring that to Billitproof next year?
Such a limited number of entries available and they let a flock of VWs in? Aye chinga! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Those dudes probably got all the good awards too! Look at those forearms- is that Marcus???
The black prime, barbed wire graphics, welded chain bumper and Harley plate are all nice touches- but what's really missing is the red wheels!

damn snacky....50 questionable cars...out of 750 that were there...I guess you were still able to find something to look at then! I really only thought there were about ten cars there that were 'QUESTIONABLE" but then again I enjoyed the whole damn day..right up to watching the greaser kid get tossed out of the races...after he got a cops knee in the back and some shiny new bracelets thrown on!!!
For those who did not go to the racetrack....it was a missed event for sure. Kirk gets the billetproof hookup of only 5 bucks to get in.Ya just have to buy yer tickets at the swag booth inside....and it was the last points race of the season....so it was rough on the track!

I had a great time @ the show..I always do every year.I think i even saw a couple people lookin @ my 64 ironhead!!!!
Ill be back next year without a doubt..Anyone can run thier mouth about whatever they want but tell me this...where can you spend a WHOLE day lookin @ all kinds of great shit for 5 bucks or in my case 20???Billet here and there? So FUCKIN what.I like billet aluminum here and there..just not everywhere. If i had to guess id say most people here dont even have running cars.Theres so much labor intesive work done on SO MANY of those cars there that soo many people are very proud of!!Hats off to you guys too!with 790 cars i felt no discomfort overlooking the cars i thought less of so if the car is a lil billet so what..dont look..plenty of other stuff there!Like Kirk said if 10 cars sucked out of almost 800 its a job well done.
Id also like to thank the swanx!!Very nice guys who worked very hard to help with the show..hats off to you gentlemen!!

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, it's exactly like that..!!!
Brewsir,
Ok, so 50 might be a tad high, but there were at least 10 VW's
there, (one basically stock even..??) a monster truck or two,
and still way too many billet-laden cars with 80's-style graphics..??
I just don't understand....
Don't get me wrong, I still had fun..!! I saw a lot of people that
I don't get to see very often, met some very cool people (yourself included),
saw a lot of cool cars, and the weather was way nicer than last year..!!
(there was a decent amount of good looking women too..!!)
BUT, the general gist I got, and many people had the same view,
is that Billetproof used to be kinda like the 'best of Paso'....
Now it seems like a mildly smaller version of Paso....
(and at nearly 800 cars, not much smaller at all..!!)
Like I said, I did still have fun, and I've had fun at
every Paso I've gone too as well, I just think that a name
change is in order if the basic premise of the show isn't 'enforced'....
my 3 cents.... Take it easy, Snacks.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have owned a couple VWs and love them. I think they fit in just fine with all the other rejects that cant get into goodguys. I loved the show, but hated the hang over. VW are a good when first getting into fixing up cars, they are still cheap enough to screw up.

Great view of the field! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
We were parked over by the area that the Road Zombies took over... and there was this row of some of the 10. I shit you not... this one guy was out there with his feather duster wiping down his car every 15 minutes! Made me giggle.
Hey Slaz.. you could have always aske HIM if you could have borrowed his duster. Maybe even loaned him a couple gold chains? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
You know... the 'chainer cars were pretty, and SOMEBODY put a lot of work into them... but they lacked, hmmm, depth or substance... or even character. Kinda like a lot of high-maintenance females I've had the misfortune of meeting.
I kept hearing the sounds of revving engines in my head as I was trying to fall asleep last night. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

aww hell snacky...I am takin it easy...you should be around me when I'm really on a roll!!! (usually just when I'm on a tequila trip!)
I liked the cop car VW...they threw it together in a very short time and it really had a look to it.
As for the 4x4 4 dr sedan....it probably fits into the billetproof theme alright...homebuilt,low buck,no billet fluff BS...etc. it just needed lowered about 3 ft!

That car was built in about 6 or 7 weeks, basically for the BP show. At a VW event last Labor Day, he was driving around and giving out tickets to all thge billet-laden chromed muffler bearing cars at the show. he won an award with that sucker, too, when he chopped the top, he didn't use an extra roof to fill in the gaps, he used the existing top and narrowed the body to fit the top...
It sounds faster than it is, it has a 1600 or 1835cc engine in it, with a small cam and a ton of compression.

I know what you guys are talking about. I've Got a gold chain car, a sixties car and I'm building a traditional car. I also own the black and white VW. I am old enough to remember the original cars that so many of you are trying to mimic. I love what you guys are doing.
I also have to say that I agree with some of you about a couple of the cars there. The one in particular is even an embarrassment at a VW show.
I only wish that more of you could understand that in the fifties Model A bodies were plentiful and cheap. That is the reason that so many of them were the car of choise to hot rod. Those cars have all but disapeared today so what choice does the poor hot rodder have? In todays world one of the alternatives is to use a VW bug. Like the Model A's of the fifties, they are plentiful and cheap. As far as hot rod goes.....My VW powered T Bucket will ruin most V8 owners day.
I know that you guys are saying "fine just don't bring them to our show". Well you may be right but My VW was built totally in the spirit of the early "Traditional" hot rods. The car was built with all hand made parts on a very low budget.
I think that those of us who are fortunate enough to accually own and drive these cars have a responsability to the younger generation coming up. I think that we should be setting examples of what can be done.
I am proud of what we did with a VW and we did it in the true spirit of Hot Rodding.
Thanks for listening , Walt

Fucking Cry Baby Conformists.
Looking to be differnt, just like all their friends.
And you can be differnt too,
as long as you fit in with the right crowd and their idea of what is acceptable.
Don't try anything new, don't buck the trends.
Do as your told.
Follow the "rebellious" crowd, like all the other Sheep.
Imagination and creativity are only allowed within the limits dictated by
The Beautiful People, the big coporate magazines, and the self appointed Cool Car Cops.
Next year they will be bitching because someone's t-shirt wasn't black enough,
or their cuffs weren't long enough.
Some beer drinking Poser buys a stock 60's barge, pays someone else to bolt on a set of White Walls,
and he's an instant automotive hero.
Some poor guy slaving away in his garage, chopping, welding, smoothing, getting his ass dirty doing all that traditional custom shit the Posers can't do and would never try to learn,
is somehow a stupid asshole because his 60's car, which was originally designed back before The War,
isn't Kosher with the self appointed Cool Car Cops.
Maybe he should have started with an Anglia,Popular,Topolino,Bantum.
I think an old Rolls Royce,or a Bently, would make a cool Lead Sled. The Cool Car Cops would scream.
Fuck the Purist Pigs who want to limit what is acceptable.Who died and left them in charge ?
Is it old ? YES
Is it modified ? YES
SO WHAT IS THE FUCKING PROBLEM ? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
