vertical style. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

HAMB member Starliner's Grandpa had a very cool hot rod party today out at his place in the country. Great setting, perfect place for practicing shooting vertical format, something I don't do very often. Wasn't really planning on sharing the photos till I realized that there were quite a few cars there that were a bit "traditional" in style, not all, but some. So without further ado.......

Starliner's cool ride
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/image_uploads/564005-3.jpg

About 5-6 years ago, Bill, Starliner's grandpa, had just dropped off Starliner at home. He was riding shot-gun in this '40. A few minutes later someone ran a red lite and smashed into the passenger side and rear of this gem. Bill survived but if Starliner had still been in the car most likely he wouldn't have. Most folks that saw it said the '40 was totaled. You'd never know it today. The car is awesome.

I couldn't get a front shot of this baby, too close to the walls so a rear shot will have to do.

This Caddy was my Dad's favorite there. He was so impressed with the interior that Monday Dad's taking his '56 over to the guys place to see about him doing Dad's Olds.

On the way home from the party we stopped at the tattoo shop to see some friends and this vintage working garage is next door so we decided to snap a few shots.

Just one other one. The hood was up already and I didn't wanna ask Bill to close it. It was tough to get a decent shot of this one as well.

Wow, nice pics Denise!

The red/silver Merc...would that be Richard Zocchi's old "Cool 50" Merc that was built in the mid 70's? I've always loved that car!

Why as a matter of fact it was. Good eye. It is a stunning custom. If there weren't so many people there that Bill was "entertaining" I would have asked him to pull it outside for more/better shots. The next time I see him cruzn that one around I'll shoot some more detailed photos of it and post.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying them. Sometimes I feel funny about using alot of bandwidth with photos. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I would say being born into that family would be better than being born with a silver spoon in your mouth!

Very cool shots, thanks.

Denise, thanks for the photos. I think that Ryan wouldn't get upset with you including photos in some of your posts as they are always excellent and, I think, always supportive of the position that he has staked out. At least thats what I think.
I do have a question to ask of you-has your dad picked the colors for his '56? I still love it just the way it is. Just wondering.

Not yet. He keeps talking about the orange and cream combination but I know Dad and that color combination is too "bright/outgoing" for him. He's very conseverative. I believe he'll go with the dark blue and silver.

He's going to start tearing it apart next month. I plan on helping so we'll have some garage time together and maybe, just maybe I might learn a thing or two. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Was his shop featured in Hop Up (3 or 4)? Some of those cars (and scenery) look familiar (the 40 vert, coupe, and the little shoebox coupe) but I don't have my Hop Ups here at work to check! I seem to remember him having a Moonglow clone as well. Just curious...thanks for the shots!
