I have been working for 2 days getting my shop ready to pour concrete for the floor, I'm tired of working on gravel. Anyway I didn't look at the computor for those two days. I didn't tell Bob I was going to MO-KAN today and so I was the only HAMB dragster there. the first run I went 117.00 with 11.92 smoking all the way in low first gear. Second run I went 116.73 with a 11.89 smoking all the way through first gear. I went up to the tower and asked what I was supposed to do. They said you won HAMB class and get a trophy. I said that I would like to race somebody so they said I could race against the altereds in th bracket class. Mr. Mac was there and Dwight and Rand Man who has a new Blown chevy powered rail. Mr Mac said he had been watching me and everytime I did a burnout in the water I had water dripping from the tread of the tire when I staged. So in my first race against an altered I drove around the water and did a dry burnout. I had a 11.80 dial in against a 8.67 dail in from a roadster. I left on the third yellow and went 11.81 with 117.46 against a 8.60 at 153.43 he broke BUT I RED LIGHTED BY.36. I said I 'm 2 months from my 70th birthday I don't have that good of reactions but I did. We had a really bad accident with a 57 chevy wagon with a blown chevy engine. He went through the lights at 154 and kicked a rod out which put oil under his tires. He flipped over and then cartwheeled about 20 feet in the air. He walked away from it though. They made him go to hospital anyway. This has really been a good day. The car is dead on consistent and a ball to drive. Can't wait till next year.:DRoy

We sure missed Jim Marlett!
I must say this was our best AHRA Reunion ever. Lots of GOOD cars the well represented the era we were looking for, lots of spectators and a quick paced, purposeful show!

I love the pictures and if you click on Open Gas and then click on 1941 it is my old 41 Ford pickup that is owned by Mike Dodge now. I had a 283 Chev in it and he runs a 351 Cleveland Ford in it now and goes 122 mph in the mid 10's. There I've mentioned all three of the auto makers.:D Roy

Here's a photo of 348chevy's big Jimmy outlaw. Turns out the driver was none other than film legend Micky Rooney. Much taller than he appears in the movies and he's a nice guy too.

I second that, this was really a great meet. It is going to be a long winter waiting to race at Tulsa. I am going to contact Ozark raceway to see if they would be interested in hosting some HA/GR rails next year. If there is an interest in this line let me know.:)Roy P.S. I have a T shirt that says " Yeah I Know I Look Like Mickey Rooney":D

Roy,
The Ozark Raceway sounds like a great idea. Keep us informed.
Dwight said you put on a good showing at MoKan for us HAMB guys.

I have been having a e-mail swap with Wes Phifer of Ozark Raceway. They are now a 1/8th mile track due to their short shutdown area. He has asked me to bring the car down to the track and run it through the lights. He said he would like to see some of us come down and put on a show. I sent him a picture of me and the Hornet leaving the line at Tulsa so he knows what the cars look like. I think with more exposure some guys in Springfield might try to build some cars. :)Roy
