Does anyone remember what mag this car was featured, I want to say American Rodder in the early days but not sure. If you know please let me know, like the color and wanted to see if it was a factory color or something else. Have been thinking about the factory 57 GM lillac/ purplish/silver color that came on Caddy's and chevies as a potential candidate for my sedan.
Thanks
Louie

It was in StreetRodder too as well with several others..If i remember right Rod & Kustom did a big feature on the car about how it was wrecked/flipped then brought back to life...It was one of the better ones i've seen about the car and i remember it said what he used..
I'll try to dig them up for you..I did have them all set aside cause its one of my all time favorites...

It was in Street Rodder May 1998 as the 1997 Street Rod of the Year. The Facts & Figures lists the color as "PPG/light metallic purple" but the script states "Kurt supplied the original paint numbers, allowing the mix of the custom paint once again." The original owner/builder was Kurt Senescall who wrecked it then sold it to Ken and Jolen Bentz. And no, I'm not a Street Rodder historian I just happened to bring a bunch of them home from my folk's house the other day and browsed through a couple http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rod and Custom May 1998...cover has a red 32 roadster on the moon with the lunar landing in the background.
I wanted to buy this car but the guy that built it was not really intrested and to be honest at the time I really did not have the scratch...it was a love at first sight kind of thing. Saw the car at Oklahoma (Nats or mini nats? I can't remember..nats I bet.) with the damage from flipping and still wanted it. I have seen it at MN for several years...the guy that owns it now is always at BTT50's. Nice guy, talked to him a bunch of times. Only real changes to the car over the years are air cleaners.
It is not a stock color...it was a custom mix. The article says it was PPG paint. The article mentions the current owner getting the formula etc. to fix it and I bet the guy would give you the formula if you could track him down.
Very cool car!

Damn Kentucky, you beat me by just a few mins...took me to long to drag the issue out. It was also in a Goodguys Annual...just a pic, no info.

thanks for the info.. It is one of those cars that has always stuck with me. Just love it, the other was a red one from Oregon I think that was featured in TRJ.
Thanks for the heads up on the color, the color of the 57 pictured above just does not look as good as I remember it.
Still thinking about a green metallic also. Here is another purple I like thou I think it is more pink then I could handle on a hotrod.
