I had to jump on this when it came up. A mate of mine has had this old T-Bird 292 Y-Block in the corner of his workshop for over 20 years. It was a running engine when he pulled it. I bought it today, for what I consider a reasonable sum. Not sure what I will use it in yet, but it does have genuine Thunderbird aluminium valve covers which will eventually find their way onto my T-Bird.
Oh yeah, we put a bar across two bolts in the crank and it turns nicely. I half expected it to be siezed after standing so long. It's a 56 motor with the holley teapot carb.
I got the tranny too, but I think it's a two speed. I'm sure I have a flywheel somewhere, I'd like to hook the motor up to a manual box with overdrive and drop it into something. Old Rusty?? The 36?? maybe use it when I start on the sport coupe?? I dont know, I just had to grab it when I could.
