I overserviced a tranny here at the house. I don't want to drop the pan....no drain plug. Any novel ideas for siphoning out a quart or 2?

Go to Wal Mart and pick up one of those rubber "Bulb siphons" in the Boating/outdoor part of the store....it will suck it out a little at a time, and is low priced I believe.
If its an automatic, why not unhook one of the tranny lines and pull the coil wire and start the motor over and let it pump out?
Just get a hose and give it a good suck http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif no dont do it i'm just kidding my uncle down here uses what looks like an old bike tire pump with a longer hose i dont know how it works but it does it will pull the fluid up but you have to be quick moving it cuz it spills out pretty quickly.
I use one of those suck pumps for bleeding brakes.
not the Austin Powers kind, the automotive type.
hmm, bet you could take a small rubber tube, feed it down the filler to the fluid, take your air blow gun and a rag and put a little pressure in there to push it out..
maybe that's not such a good idea,
next thing ya know all the automatic transmissions on the HAMB will have blown seals, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The auto parts stores sell a pump for that purpose and to remove rear axle grease. Believe it or not, some rear axles do not have drain plugs. its about $10

I bought an awesome suction gun from Speedway. It was like $10. Its designed specifically for sucking the fluid out of transmissions and rearends and it WORKS GREAT!
It emptied my rearend in like 3 sucks.
eeehhhhh.....
....ummmm.......
....yeah.
Anyhow. Thats what you need.

Go ahead and drop the pan, then while it's pulled, install a drain plug kit in it. Bolt it back up and overfill it again.
Then all you have to do is unscrew the plug and let the excess drain out.
That's what i would do....

I'd loosen a trans cooler line if it was an auto, if it's a stick, pull the fill plug and let it run out. Gene

I use a piece of clear plastic "Tygon" tubing to siphon gas outa my truck for the mower.
I got tired of blowing air across the end of the tube with my air hose because it meant I had to fire up the compressor just to "steal" some gas so I found an empty HEINZ Ketchup bottle with a squirt cap in the recycling bin and rinsed it out and squeeze it, press the hose up to the small hole in the cap and let go.
The bottle expands back to shape, sucking the gas up the hose. No gas sprayed all over the driveway when the air hose works too well all of a sudden and no nasty gas or fumes in the mouth. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm sure this will work with a piece of tube small enough to go down the trans filler tube.
(Republicans; You are not allowed to use the Heinz brand Ketchup bottle.. go find yourself a different brand!) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I found that a "Heinz" is the perfect place to store unwanted fluids unless you have a "Lewinski" handy http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I really like the idea of pulling one of the trans cooling lines off and draining out that way.
you know how much trans fluid will leak when you just have a slight leak in one of those lines http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif.
Or do the right thing and drop the pan and install a drain plug and never worry again.
to pump it out the cooler line means running the motor with no transmission fluid circulating through the trans.
dropping the pan can be messy and if you use fluid like Trick Shift or Royal Purple or any other spendy stuff it aint cheap.
blowing it out the tube could cause problems..
sucking it out sounds the best way..
how about dropping the drive shaft and pulling the yoke?
just let it run out the tail..
still gotta get under the car though..

i've had good luck with a turkey baster bulb and vacuum line too.

Pull the hose off of the PCV valve and and stick it down the filler tube and start her up. If the motor smokes like a son of a bitch it's working!!

Don't laugh, I've actually done this!!
I guess if you took a large sealed jar with a line in and a line out of the lid it would probably work. (without the smoke)

Make sure you're sober.
Get a ten foot lift.
Make sure your car doesn't fall off.
Let gravity do its work.
