FordyToo!

Thanks for letting me on board!
Please hand me a life preserver before throwing me overboard if
you figure I don't belong here.
I'm in my 50's, read a lot of Hot Rod mag as a teen, recently graduated
from college as I saw my "lifelong profession" of electronics repair become
as disposable as the electronics of today.
My sweet wife gave me on our wedding day 8 years ago, my brother's
1942 Ford 1.5 ton farm truck. Only last year was I able to have it
hauled the 600 miles to here so it can be fixed up.
Here's the part where you might hand me the life preserver, I'm not looking
at "hot rodding" it, just get it back to "street legal".
It needs paint,
water pumps replaced, re-wiring (it's already 12 volt), brake repair
and a muffler. It cranks, but I haven't tried starting it for 4 years.
The engine is an 8RT so it is not original.
So I mosied up here on board trying to look like one of the passengers
or deck hands and listen in to any tech advice that may apply and
hopefully ask a question to two.
I still don't have a job, so most of the work I do on it leans to
the inexpensive, such as painting with spray cans obtained at the
county recycler.
Sincerely,
FordyToo!
