Check Von Tingler's Fairlane post, the falcon is similar. Also check out the forums on tffn.net there is a guy building a straight axle comet on there.

Had a 63 falcon in 1978 .s1b I would install a sub frame connector in the car so it don't flex to much trust me it will flex when you get on it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Mine started with a 6 than a 289 than a 390.

Grinder, that had to be a fun car with a 390 in it.How did it hold upm with the subframe connecters?

Hey man,

What everyone told me was to just gut out the old suspension and slap that axle under it. Which is what I've done.
Just weld some spring perches to the unibody "frame" rails in front and ....up, up, up and away...you go. I didn't put any extra bracing or anything under the front. I haven't even removed the shock towers yet. I WILL be doing that in the future though.

For the rear, I simply got 2" over stock leaf springs. Meaning they have been EXTRA arched. They did a good job lifting the rear of my car. Add on the 1" lift I got from the slicks being bigger, and that adds up to approx. 3" lifted in the back. Its a pretty simple swap. Mine was difficult though because I had to replace all of the rotten spring busings and stuff plus redesign a few things here and there...plus cut out and replace a lot of rot in the trunk/ frame rail area (which is a bitch)...

Anyhow, I don't know what questions you have, but when you start on this thing and have some questions don't hesitate to PM me and ask. I'll try my best to answer them. I'm still learning too you know.

Find an early Econoline van and rip out the seats and the front axle, and you'll be '60's correct.

Blownolds,I thought the Econoline axle was to wide.As far as the seats go ,the car has the original buckets and console in it.Its a Sport Futura.
