I shot the underside of the trunk lid before i went to Rhinebeck last week.
I wasn't gonna make this car 'shiny' but after all this work it has to be done. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This color looks like a candy in person, even though it's not. It show's a lot of shading depending on where the light hit's.
The basic color is copper, but show's a lot of burnt orange, and even some gold highlight's in the sun.

I like it.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

awsome tony! Sure will be purty.....
Its Cool to see a Custom in shiny paint, Hotrods almost have to be some kind of less that shiny color, but Customs, they almost have to be Shiny. Its Classy. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like the color a lot! The fact that you took the time to mask the inner area says a lot about your workmanship. Will the roof be painted pearl white? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Moondisc, no scallops or any fancy stuff. Just some simple pinstripe's when done.
My goal with this was to see the car as a whole. If you flame it, scallop it or do anything that brakes the 'lines' of the car, you no longer see it as a whole, you see the 'artsy' stuff, then the car.
Not that i don't like flame's or scallops..just not on this one.

The top will be the same color as the bottom..when i chopped it, i changed the rear belt line around the back window.
It no longer breaks back there, it flows right into the trunk. So there's no way to two tone it now and make it look right in my eye's.

And the taping of the holes in the trunk..Oh man i hate it when stuff like that get's painted..
It only take a little while to cover that stuff up, why not do it ya know..

I'm wayyyy over my head with this one..
I'm spending way too much time on the small stuff....
I can't wait til it's done.
Thanks.
Tony.

The details are what make great cars stand out from the rest. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If i bring the '53 down, we'll just pile in Spike's Buick and take a spin around the track so i don't have to clean my car.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i thought about color like that for my 54...picking a color is the hardest thing when building a car. i'm stuck between a burgandy or a blue...

Thats why may fav color is black..nice and simple.

I spend over an hour at the local paint place flipping through the 'chip' books.
Every time i found one i liked, i'd mark it and keep going.
When i finished looking through them all, i went back and checked the one's i marked...

The funny thing is, i chose 3 colors, and all 3 were the same one.
So i guess the choice was easy..

It was shiny or not that was a tough choice..
Between my dad and Dat Dirty Rat, the decission to shiny clear it was made.
