A fellow contacted me to see if I could ID this Model A body. He is trying to figure out whether it was a drag car or land speed car. I'm sure he is just trying to increase the value since he wants to sell it, but I'm curious as well. Anyone recognize it?

I wanted to come up with a smart assed remark, but everything I think of pales in comparison...

Good luck on finding info on that thing. Have you tried running a search on Calloway Bros.?.......I'm being serious.

Found this, wonder if your buddy posted this, or if your buddy has more than one.

I've also found a David and a Rick Calloway involved in drag racing in Roswell, NM.

They were trying to set the land speed record, when it crashed on a farm near Corona. I think it's in a barn north of Vegas... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Looks like it was set up for an alter'd
or a front engine rail job

I also was thinking it was a drag car with the back center cut out (seat maybe?).

I know the car. It belonged to the guy who owns Calloway safety equipment in Hobbs N.M.Ran in the late 60's early 70's . I can't remember his first name but he still owns the business. Heck give him a call,he's in the bucks now and may want it back. His son is a good friend of the kid that married my niece. They joined the Navy together several years back. TP
